Rome - Italian cruise line Costa Crociere has cancelled all its upcoming stops in Tunisian ports following the attack at the Bardo museum in Tunis.

In a statement on Thursday, the Genoa-based cruise line said: "The security of our guests and crew is Costa Crociere's priority and a necessary condition for calm and pleasant vacations."

Alternate ports are being worked out, it said.

Costa, a unit of Miami-based Carnival, had a group of passengers in the Bardo when Wednesday's attack occurred. Its Fascinosa ship left port Thursday morning, bound for Palma di Mallorca, with 13 passengers left behind.

Italy's foreign ministry has confirmed that two Italians were killed, two remain unaccounted-for and several were injured. Another Mediterranean-based cruise ship, MSC Splendida, also had passengers in town at the time of the attack.
