Delay on new Palestinian passports

2013-01-07 22:03

Ramallah - Palestinian officials say they will not rush to issue new passports and ID cards with the emblem "State of Palestine" to avoid confrontation with Israel.

Last week, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas decreed that in official documents "State of Palestine" must replace "Palestinian Authority", the name of his self-rule government.

His decision came after the UN General Assembly recognised a state of Palestine in the West Bank, Gaza and east Jerusalem in late November, overriding Israeli objections.

Israel says such a state can only be the result of negotiations.

On Monday, Palestinian officials said documents that need to be presented to Israel, such as passports, would not be changed now.

Abbas aide Saeb Erekat says there's fear of travel problems because Israel is unlikely to recognise passports with a new emblem.

They have quite a cheek!! Calling Palestine a state while Israel is still expanding its borders! When Israel is done, Palestine will be the size of a bachelor flat... Then what's the use calling it a state? LOL

"Israel says such a state can only be the result of negotiations." Zionist right wingers have dropped all pretense of a Palestinian state being established by changing "facts" on the ground. Speaking with a forked tongue as usual!

Call it negotiations or call it submission. This is the politics of power. Israel sets the terms, the Palestinians submit.

Delay on new Palestinian Passports??? Shall we call it an indefinite delay. The Palestinians love to hate Israel, but are completely reliant on Israel for just about everything, from food aid to tax collection. Completely reliant = compliant.

Occupied people tend to be reliant on their occupiers. Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto were also reliant on the whims and mood of their jailers. Nothing special here!
