Explosion hits Tel Aviv bus

2012-11-21 12:23

Tel Aviv - At least 10 people were injured on Wednesday in an explosion on a bus in central Tel Aviv, Israel's emergency services said, with police saying the source of the blast was not immediately clear.

"There are about 10 people wounded of whom three are in serious condition," emergency services spokesperson Zaki Heller told public radio.

"There was an apparent explosion on a bus in Shaul HaMelech Street in Tel Aviv. The background and circumstances are not clear yet," police spokesperson Luba Samri said.

However, the prime minister's spokesman labelled the incident a "terrorist attack".

"A bomb exploded on a bus in central Tel Aviv. This was a terrorist attack. Most of the injured suffered only mild injuries," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's spokesperson Ofir Gendelman said on his official Twitter account.

Agge no man! I shouldn't read articles like this. It upsets me too much. I frigging hate war. With a passion. Grrrr. I don't care who's right and wrong. It's always the innocent who are maimed or killed. Grrr again. And for what? Greed? Religion? Bah!

Be fair and JUST in your comments people...read this:The Israel Lobby is just the tip of an older and far larger iceberg known as “political Zionism,” an international movement that began in the late 1800s with the goal of creating a Jewish state somewhere in the world. In 1897 this movement, led by a European journalist named Theodore Herzl[3], coalesced in the First Zionist World Congress, held in Basle, Switzerland, which established the World Zionist Organization, representing approximately 120 groups the first year; 900 the next.[4] While Zionists considered such places as Argentina, Uganda, and Texas,[5] they eventually settled on Palestine for the location of their proposed Jewish State, even though Palestine was already inhabited by a population that was 95 percent Muslims and Christians, who owned 99 percent of the land.[6] As numerous Zionist diary entries, letters, and other documents show, Zionists planned to push out these non-Jews – financially, if possible; violently if necessary.[7]

Israel was created in 1948 from 52% of the land formerly occupied by the Jewish and Palestinian people, and Palestine 43%. Most of the Israeli territory was the Negev Desert. Jerusalem fell into neither territory. Palestinians with their unelected, self-serving neighbors declared war on Israel the very next day. In the 1960's they even invaded Israel twice. Full military invasions. The result: Israel survived and pushed them back, gaining territory in the process. This is the origin of what you wrongly call "stealing land". There have been almost daily attacks by Palestinians, incited by their self-serving unelected backers. Palestinians even teach their children at Kindergarten to attack Israel, rather than be peaceful. Children. Kindergarten. From day one, and even today it's wage war on Israel. Israel defends herself. Yes sometimes going too far, which is unacceptable, but self-defense nonetheless. All that needs to happen is for Palestinians to choose peace side by side with Israel. This is more likely going forward now because the unelected dictators are being removed from power by their people, one by one. They will no longer use the Palestinians for their own internal political ploys.

  • bob.paige.7 - 2012-11-21 12:54

Sick to my stomach. How do people actually support Hamas. They just claimed responsibility for the attack over loudspeakers throughout Gaza and celebratory gun fire was heard. Its time for Israel to enter Gaza via ground and flatten it, I'd take safety of Israeli civilians over international sympathy any day of the week. These terrorists do not value life, they value death. People who support these Islam extremists should seriously reconsider their alignment to being "liberal"

      dinesh.chetty.77 - 2012-11-21 13:27

      majeda.moola - 2012-11-21 13:40

"Go into Gazza and flatten it". So those who are oppressed for decades should be destroyed because they retaliate to a nation (To who they gave refuge I may add)who have repeatedly been guilty of killing their women and children. Ok so by that logic then all farmers (who are in the minority) that complain of the murders of there kin should be flattened and destroyed. Idiot

      bob.paige.7 - 2012-11-21 14:08

Majeda and Dinesh, I know it may be too much for your simplistic minds to comprehend, but you should take up reading on Middle East history. The so called refugees are all Jordanians who murdered and butchered Jews within the land of what is now known as Israel. Perhaps if you read regular reports you would realize that Hamas is guilty of oppressing Palestinians under international law. Hamas is recognized as a terrorist organization as USA, Canada, the EU, Australia and Japan. 1/5 of the so called "refugees" are actually decedents according to UN reports. Furthermore, Hamas fires rockets into Islams 3rd holiest city and kills its own citizens for being accused "informers". Hamas butchered members of Fatah and just yesterday fired a missile into Palestinian land within the West Bank.No do yourselves a favor and take up reading, who knows where it will get you in life

      majeda.moola - 2012-11-21 14:38

Haha as I can see yet another Fox news and CNN fan boy. So Because the western powers regards an organization as terrorist that make it so. If fighting for your sovereignty is an act of terrorism than sign up all of Africa, parts of Asia and South America as terrorist organizations. Let us not forget that it is a terrorist organisation that played a significant role in freeing us from apartheid. With respect to my knowleddge of middle eastern history it is far more than adequate. Perhaps you should start reading material that is not published by companies owned in large by Zionists. "Butchered" ?? How many references would you like of israel being accused of worse. 1 Rocket lol 1 Rocket. I see your points of reference are solid ;) When you become a big boy (and widen your view on the world) ask me and I will send you a link to some real material of accounts of people on the ground

      bob.paige.7 - 2012-11-21 15:30

Majeda, seeing as your so concerned with what news network I watch I'll tell you that i watch neither Fox nor CNN. Now that that's out of the way, the ANC was never considered a terrorist organization by anyone other than the Apartheid regime. In fact its was quite the contrary, they were recognized as the official representatives of the South African people. What now? You're going to argue that Hamas is the official representative of Palestinians? Well my friend, they are not. Like I said before they BUTCHERED Fatah members and claimed that it won a "democratic" election. Read about it. Would you please attempt to address why Hamas fires rockets into Jerusalem and into the West Bank? No, wait, i know you won't be able to because there is no logical explanation. You claim your Middle East knowledge is adequate, HA what a joke. You clearly don't read many legal reports on situations regarding Israel and its neighbors. Go read the Levy report.

      wallace.william.944 - 2012-11-21 15:59

Hamas is against the peace process and wants to destroy Israel and Jews- Israel left Gaza and since then, all we got is rockets from Hamas who the people voted for. when Israel defends itself, everyone cries. Palestinians can have a state and live in peace with Israel and prosper if they want- they must just get rid of the Jihadists and terrorists first.

      pragasen.padayachy - 2012-11-21 13:27

@yisaacson. Study History and discover that the State of Israel was only created after WW2. Ben Gurion led his people to Palestine and was welcomed with open arms by the Palestians. The Palestinians now live in Homelands (or as we Locals know it as Bantustans). Why don't U study local History. The Apartheid Regime created Ciskei, Transkei, Bophuthatswana and the likes. The people resisted and the Bantustans crumbled and so did the Apartheid Regime. The same will happen to Palestine. There's no difference between the Apartheid Regime and Israel. Resistance Fighters in South Africa were also called Terrorists. History as I know it. What's your History ????

      mark.russell.7370013 - 2012-11-21 13:41

Go read your history and show me where land has not been taken from people that were there before. If you exam the history of Israel and Palestine, Gaza was taken after Israel pushed back Egypt when they were invaded. In 2008 Israel withdrew from Gaza and since then Fatah lost power over Gaza to Hamas. Hamas don't want to live in peace thy want to destroy Israel. Israel has no problem with Gaza, the Wet Bank or the Golan Heights being ruled by Palestinians a long as they stop attacking Israel. The Israeli army has warned civilians about impending missile strikes, provided relief aid to the civilians and targeted only Hamas military capability. Hamas target civilians, hide behind heir own citizens and are the reason for the Israeli embargo on Gaza. If Hamas were really interested in running the Palestinian territories which are only occupied by Palestinians, since Israel forcibly withdrew all Israelis from there, then they can have their peace.

History according to PadsVannieBaai: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There was no history before 1948. Israel didn't exist before 70AD (when the Jews were driven out by Muslim and Roman Catholic empires) Judaism isn't 3500 years old. Jews manifested in other countries and didn't have a country of origin (the place they have always faced for the past 2 millenium when they pray). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Yeah, even your lack of knowledge seems to make you think you have power.

  • yisaacson - 2012-11-21 13:07

Genocide is caused when people start dehumanizing one another. This usually happens when they feel threatened, either justifiably, or unjustifiably. Israeli's justifiably feel that Gazans, who voted for Hamas, want to destroy them all, but still do not promote genocide, which is pretty amazing. Hopefully, they will continue to resist this temptation despite the constant bombardments. Gazans, despite Israel's peace overtures, continue to support Hamas which calls openly for genocide against Israel. Their leaders encourage it, and their supporters in the third world, including South Africa, do little to discourage it.

      yisaacson - 2012-11-21 13:11

So all those that agree Israel has the right to the land on a purely moral basis due to the fact that they were there 700 years before their re-occupation of land, of which when they re-occupied they were a minuscule minority before the bussing in of "jews" from all over the world to make a more significant, but still minority prescence, must then all agree that if "jews" are entitled to occupy Israel due to their historic claim, then all the non-native americans should leave the USA, all whites, indians and asians should leave South Africa, because a claim of 700 years ago is more valid that the claim of people that have actually been living in that land for those 700 years. So, what you think, you would agree that if the UN passed a proclamation that stated that all non - native americans must leave america, (because they have been there less than 300 years) all European descendants in SOuth Africa must also leave the land, (<350 years) you would be ok with that. Or that you must give up 52% of the land to the "orginal owners" ie people with a claim that goes back 700 years, and anyone that has a claim of less than 700 years should be ok with their land being given as a homeland for these other. Even worse, the other will not have been living here, but in other countries, ex, asking all the "blacks" in america to come and occupy south africa, because its their motherland. Really, your argument is invalid.
