Fidel Castro fine, son says

Havana - One of Fidel Castro's sons reportedly says his father is in good shape despite a long public silence that has again fueled speculation about the 86-year-old former president's health.

A journalist for the state-run newspaper Venceremos quotes Alex Castro as saying "the comandante" is going about daily life as normal, reading and exercising.

Arlin Alberty Loforte posted the quote on Friday on her blog from the eastern city of Guantanamo, where she met with Alex Castro the previous evening at an exhibit of his photographs of the retired leader.

Rumours of Fidel Castro's purportedly declining health surfaced anew this week after he did not publicly congratulate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on his re-election.

He has not been seen in public since late March.

Once again, Fidel, notwithstanding what your Ego says, you only speak for yourself, no-one else. YOU salute Fidel Castro, who ran Cuba into the ground, encouraging 2 million Cubans to leave Cuba for a more normal life overseas. But then you believe Nelson Mandela is a phony, a lackey of the West, a modern-day Uncle Tom.

Fidel Castro ! One of my 'secret' heroes!! Although a life long dictator, and having denied the Cubans to take charge of their own destiny , and having imprisoned some of his opposition; this is a remarkeble man. The ONLY dictator ever, not to have enriched himself, his family , nor his friends. And although being forced in a corner many a times, he never became abusive to his own people. A true revolutionary, who stuck to his principles, and made the Cubans a highly educated nation, and one of the few countries in the world, which exports doctors and engineers. A Dictator, a Revolutionary, but also a Gentleman!!! What a comparison, to his wannabees, the rotten scum in this world, like the gaddafies, the assads and this mugabe thug. I salute Fidel Castro !!
