Generators blamed for building collapse

2013-05-03 18:04

Dhaka - A top investigator probing the Bangladesh garment factory disaster in which more than 500 people died said on Friday that four huge generators placed on the roof of the building had caused it to collapse.

"Four huge generators were set up on the roof, violating rules," Main Uddin Khandaker, a senior home ministry official heading a government investigation team, told AFP.

"When these generators were started after a power cut they created vibration, and together with the vibration of thousands of sewing machines, they triggered the collapse," he said.

Dont know I am use to generators ina abasement. Then I observed a contruction in Delhi of a huge building and the concrete wer mixed by hand. The scaffolding were dangerous wooden structures and I thought to myself this must be a very dangerous building. The fact is this building is a very prominent building I cannot believe the way they do this construction thing. Four Generators kind of not buy this story.

Yes, well that and the fact that - like here - there doesn't seem to be much of a building-code/inspectorate.

When diferent vibrations get in sync, it is called resonance. It is powerful enough to destroy virtually any material known to man
