Greek gay pride rally attacked

Athens - Police say about 50 people threw eggs and plastic bottles of water at about 400 people holding a gay pride parade in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki.

Police moved in to restrict the attackers on Saturday, but no injuries were reported.

In recent days, Anthimos, the senior Greek Orthodox cleric in Thessaloniki, had publicly criticised the planned gay pride parade.

Anthimos, who only uses one name, is known for outspoken speeches on social and political issues.

An annual gay pride rally is annually held in Athens, the Greek capital, and normally occurs without incident.

"Anthimos who uses only one name"- like a big homophobic Bono, who uses only one name? I don't think throwing eggs is going to curb homosexuality either. So stupid.

Does \Anthimos\ mean something like \hateful bigot who spreads hate in the name of religion\ or what?\r\nHe needs therapy... Perhaps a few nights in a nice prison with nice male inmates will cure him of his myopia.\r\nBy the way... Male prison inmates are not gay... Makes one think, does'nt it?
