Israeli-Palestinian peace elusive

New York - UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Tuesday the "door may be closing, for good" on a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, saying the continued growth of Jewish settlements undercuts peace.

"The two-state solution is the only sustainable option. Yet the door may be closing, for good," Ban told the UN General Assembly.

"The continued growth of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territory seriously undermines efforts towards peace. We must break this dangerous impasse."

There will never be peace because the Palestinians do not want peace. Even before the West bank and Gaza was occupied, they had been waging a war of attrition against Israel's existence. This was only curtailed by Israel militarily occupying their territory. The lack of peace cannot be only attributed to the growth and expansion of Israeli settlements. In any event, Israel can carry on in the current situation indefinitely. Israel is as much at peace as it was when it came into existence. Israel is not suffering - it is the Palestinians who have created their own trouble.

There will be no peace cause the Israeli's think they can continue suppressing the Palestinians forever, they will be the architects of their own troubles..AS GOD IS MY WITNESS!

The Pestinians are suppressing themselves and only have themselves to blame for it.

Let the door close for good, then at least everyone knows where they stand and maybe it gives us all a break from this endless whining.

Zionism and peace are incompatible! Zionism demands an establishment of Eretz Israel. Ban kin Moon is right, the requirement in the context of negotiating a state for the Palestinians is, at the very least, a halt to the annexation of that very state.

Islamists and peace are incompatible! Islam demands an establishment of Apartheid system in the Middle East ie Muslims only! Ban kin Moon is right, the requirement in the context of negotiating a state for the Palestinians is, at the very least, a recognition by the Arab world that Israel is here, and here to stay. When they have excepted Israel then negotiations can start. Don’t let the settlements fool you. There were settlements in Gaza as well and all were brought down in 2 weeks. The same could be done in the West Bank, but the Palestinians/Arab league must desire peace first.
