Jerusalem bomb blew out bus windows

2011-03-23 16:20

Jerusalem - A bomb exploded at a crowded bus stop on Wednesday in central Jerusalem, wounding at least 25 people in what appeared to be the first militant attack in the city in several years.

The blast could be heard throughout Jerusalem and blew out the windows of two crowded buses.
Rescuers were seen removing bloodied people from the area on stretchers.

Israel's national rescue service said 25 people were wounded, including 15 seriously. No deaths were reported.

Meir Hagid, one of the bus drivers, said he heard a loud explosion as he drove by the site, located near the main entrance to Jerusalem and its central bus station.

"I heard the explosion in the bus stop," he said. He halted his vehicle and people got off. He said nobody in his bus was hurt.

Jerusalem suffered dozens of suicide bombings that targeted buses and restaurants during the second Palestinian uprising last decade.

But the attacks have halted in recent years. Jerusalem last experienced a suicide bombing in 2004.

The bombing came amid rising tensions between Israel and the Hamas militant group, which has killed hundreds of Israelis in suicide bombings and other attacks in recent years.

You deluding yourself. That is not how God works. Do you believe in God? Go read the Scriptures - Israel plays a very central role.

now isreal will retaliate, hamas will re-retailiate, isreal will strike back for that, hames for that one. and so it goes on and on and on, with no end in sight. that generations of people fight and fight over a small piece of desert that actually has nothing, no gold, no minerals, no oil. just sand, heat and very little water.

Makes you think doesn't it. Elohim's promised land to Israel...their right to exist and live there.

That's the reason why Israel has built the walls - all the suicide bombings necessitated the building of the walls - and only since the construction there-of did the suicide bombings stop... The European Parliament and other hand-wringers demanding Israel dismantle the walls must shut-up - and leave Israel to deal with the terrorism on her doorstep. If the walls keep the terrorists out - then keep building them. Israel will not be bowed. The sooner Arabia learns to accept the reality of the State of Israel - the better for peace for all in the region. Or have they not learnt the lessons from 4 humiliating defeats on the battlefield since 1948...??

      Fazil - 2011-03-23 17:11

What u meant was that the sooner Israel accepts a one state solution, wil there be peace! I wonder how will Israel's might fare given a weakening America and an increasingly confident Arab population? Do I hear Anti-Semite?

  • Marita - 2011-03-23 16:45

Sorry Ismail - my message was meant for ... can't even see his name.... The person who recons that God is punishing Israel for its sins agains other people.

  • darrylv - 2011-03-23 16:53

Looks like an excuse for Israel to join in the war...I'm sure their feet are itchy with so many jets and ships around...also want to go to the party, drop some bombs

"The bombing came amid rising tensions between Israel and the Hamas militant group, which has killed hundreds of Israelis in suicide bombings and other attacks in recent years." hundreds?how many palestinians killed?lol bias reporting. hamas overwhelmingly won the last elections,i guess u are labelled a terrorist if you fight for your rights. 3days ago, they killed a palestinian and they continue to build new settlements in disputed areas.it was coming....

      Maha - 2011-03-23 17:24

100% right, couldn't have said it better...

      Sybil Alexander - 2011-03-23 18:00

The Palestinians only use human shields, such children and innocent people . Look up and see what the Israelis do for the Arabs. Operate for free on heart patients that are Arabs. What do the Arabs do for their own. Think before you criticize

  • Maha - 2011-03-23 17:24

Sad, really sad but Israel only got themselves to blame!

      NickArmstron - 2011-03-23 17:39

Rubbish! Terrorism is never the answer. When will the Palestinians learn that Israel will never - never - cower to cowardly terrorism?? The repraisals for this act will be felt by Palestinian militants and civilians alike - then DON'T blame Israel... Israel will, quite justifiably, do everything in its power to defend her citizens. If terrorists attack her - she will respond - and any chance of peace disappears further over the horizon... Until they learn to live in peace with the State of Israel - Israel must keep building the walls... And - she reserves the right to take out any terrorist threat to her existence and the people of Israel - wherever they may hide - with whatever means at her disposal.
