Leftists win Slovak vote

Bratislava - The leftist Smer-Social Democrats of firebrand Robert Fico won Slovakia's early election on Saturday, scoring 39.6% of the vote, according to an exit poll by the public broadcaster STV.

The party could have 75 seats in the country's 150-seat parliament. The Christian Democrats, its likely coalition partner, came second with 9.9% and 19 seats.
