Man who lost leg in crucifix fall sues church

2012-11-07 21:46

Newburgh - The case of a US man whose leg had to be amputated after a 270kg crucifix fell on him will go to trial in January.

Attorney Kevin Kitson says his client, David Jimenez, prayed to the crucifix outside St  Patrick's Church in New York state after his wife was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

When she recovered, he showed his thanks by volunteering to clean the cross.

The crucifix fell on him in May 2010, crushing his right leg and it was later amputated.

He's suing the church for $3m, but the church says it's not liable for the accident.

    who is responsible

  • evan.connock - 2012-11-07 22:34

Surely this incident fell, within God's permissive will.

    Idol worshippers.

The devil caused the crucifix to fall, so he's got no case. The moment he said it was not the fault of the church, he lost his case.

      When did he say that?

Seriously, are you being sarcastic? A magistrate (according to your facebook profile), who is supposed to render judgements based on sound reasoning and logic, and if you weren't just being sarcastic, that is a serious concern. How many people have you sentenced allowing your infantile superstitions to influence the judgement? Scary. You also appear to have reading comprehension issues.

Interesting. Science cured his wife but his religion got him amputated.

Hope he learned his lesson. Next time thank the people that really cured your wife.

He volunteered, he fell and lost his leg. That's his burden to bear, seems to have also affected his brain - what an idiot it's the most un-Christian thing to do. It takes all kinds i suppose. Hope the judge throws the case out, but the law is also passion free from reason!!!!

Not liable my butt! If a person comes to some office and gets a glass panel on his head which has slid out of its brackets means he's got all rights in the world to sue this company for negligence and not paying attention to general state of the building which endangers staff and visitors lives. Whose responsibility it was to make sure that the building of this church is in satisfactory state, it has an established schedule of renovations and prayers' lives are as safe as if they are sheltered under the guarding angel's wing if not the ones who try to walk away from the incident.. All this man needs to find himself a proper lawyer.

As long as the magistrate doesn't believe the devil makes things fall down.
