McConnell: Assange a terrorist

2010-12-05 21:33

Washington - Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell is calling the founder of the online site WikiLeaks a "high-tech terrorist" for releasing classified material from the US government.

McConnell says that the online release of secret diplomat exchanges has done "enormous damage" to the country and to its relationship with its allies.

McConnell tells NBC television's Meet the Press that he hopes WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange will be prosecuted for the disclosures. And he says that if it's found that Assange hasn't violated the law, then the law should be changed.

Of Assange, McConnell says, "I think the man is a high-tech terrorist."

Standard US thinking: Brand the man a terrorist which under nazi-style "patriot act" laws will allow him to be imprisoned without charge or representation, legally tortured and kept in sub-human conditions for inderminate amounts of time. "Land of the Free" - pfft.

Very well said! This is what the U.S. Government does: convince the "free" world that this person is a terrorist so we can have our way with him. Absolutely pathetic, may there be a thousand more Assange's!!

Welll.... lets see, McConnell and his buddies voted to start a war based on an obvious lie.... methinks in the spirit of co-operation every senator and representative that voted aye for the war should be tried alongside Assange as terrorists. Wold make for an interesting trial.

What absolute hypocrisy! When it comes to standing up for transparency and honesty and integrity; don't expect to find the majority of the US congress anywhere nearby; these two faced gutless coward hypocrites! Consider the statement of Ron Paul (Republican from Texas): 'What we need is more Wikileaks; we need a wikileaks of the Federal Reserve'!!! Now that is an honest straight-talking express politician -- a diamond of shining transparency, among Orwellian pigs of deception!

yet those same people that brand him a terrorist and want to imprison him still don't know if he is guilty or not? WTF?

He should be toasted as the hero of our times. Thank goodness for people like him. The US government is more a "terrorist organisation" than Wikileaks is!

It's because of politicians like Mitch McConnell that I support Assange.

The US is today the biggest threat to world peace; everyday they murder innocents in Irak. Are there still people who think the US-war machine are interested in democracy and civilization? Wikileaks is like a refreshing wind. It is like giving the middle-finger to traditional Western media for under reporting the monstrosities of the US. More importantly it lays bare some of the barbarism of the American war machine. God help Assange and Manning.

The guys a computer hacker for stuffs sake! You know how much damage they do to normal people's computers just to show off how clever they are? When one of them get in trouble I won't be crying for them! I't would be interesting to see how he'd get on running a similar campaign against China?
