Bangkok - Myanmar's Election Commission said it wants to postpone next month's general election due to natural disasters, local media said on Tuesday.

The commission urged the major political parties to agree to postpone elections due to pervasive flooding and landslides throughout the country, the Myanmar Times newspaper said.

The election commission has not yet announced a final decision.

The elections were originally scheduled for November 8.
