Obama pays tribute to war dead

Washington - President Barack Obama paid tribute on Saturday to US soldiers who died in service of the country, saying Americans were committed to the ideals of freedom for which these troops had given their lives.

"We give thanks for those who sacrificed everything so that we could be free," the president said in his weekly radio and internet address. "And we commit ourselves to upholding the ideals for which so many patriots have fought and died."

The comments came as Americans prepared to celebrate on Monday Memorial Day, a date set aside in the calendar to honour all Americans who lost their lives in all the wars the nation has fought throughout its history.

Obama said that on Memorial Day, he and First Lady Michelle Obama will join veterans and their families at Arlington National Cemetery to pay tribute to patriots of every generation.

He noted that he wanted to remind the veterans that they were not alone and give thanks to those who had made the ultimate sacrifice and helped make America the most prosperous and powerful nation on earth.

"We have to serve them and their families as well as they have served us," Obama said. "By making sure that they get the health care and benefits they need; by caring for our wounded warriors and supporting our military families; and by giving veterans the chance to go to college, find a good job, and enjoy the freedom that they risked everything to protect."

Americans die so that the rest of the world and their own citizens can be oppressed by their regime which is so entrenched no one even notices it. Unless you are a Palestinian.

This is coming from someone who believes the US attacked itself on 9/11, the CIA invaded Afghanistan in the 1980's not the Soviet Union, central banks are arms of private banks not governments, and the Rothschilds of all people are the source of evil in our world.

100% correct Fred. On your side, all is what is seems, the americans are wonderful, the CIA has our best interests at heart and, although it states so on all their websites. the central banks are not private, even if they say they are.

At least you're open about your delusions. :)

Goyougoodthing, I am not so sure, if to have an 'open' fb ,is really That honest !! That you want to share with everybody that you don't want Peter de Villiers to be Springbok coach, and that you love CT, will most probably bring a smile on the faces , that are interested in this info !! But , I don't think, you will put a smile on the faces of your 532 'friends' and their hundreds, if not thousands of their friends, to have your fb open on a public debate forum!!!! i think many of these, will be pretty disturbed about this !!! Obviously this is open to wide abuse, which I found on my previous fb account. For this reason I have opened a fb account, ONLY for news24 access. Not to hide anything about myself, but to protect my family and friends !! In any case, as you must be aware, this fb is wide open to BS. Men pretend to be women, women pretend to be men, Whites pretend to be Blacks, Blacks pretend to be Whites, the one who says he lives in Dubai, lives in Bloemfontein, the one who says he is a pilot, is a bus driver, and than some on these sites have 3 or 4 different fb accounts, and so on , and so on !!!!! Maybe, you should swop your 'honesty' with that of protecting your family and friends !!!

The Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan in the 1980's. This is recorded history. Al-Quaida declared and waged war against the US, which resulted in the 9/11 attacks, because Saudi Arabia allowed Nato to use its territory to free Kuwait from Saddam Hussein's invasion. Central banks are arms of governments, through which monetary policies are set. The Rothschilds are virtual non-entities in today's financial markets, and sociopolitical circles.
