Munich - Oktoberfest organisers did not go as far as to call it "miracle healing" on Monday, but the incident was curious nevertheless.

One of the punters had left his wheelchair behind on the Ferris wheel, the operator said. He had entered the gondola via a special ramp on Sunday, but apparently left again without his wheelchair.

How did he do it? "We've all been wondering about that," Sebastian Willenborg said at the site in Munich.

Judging from the contents of the lost property office, it is not unusual for punters to leave crucial aids behind.

Crutches, spectacles, the odd glass eye and the occasional set of dentures are among the items of lost property to be found alongside the more common jumpers, jackets, mobile phones, keys, ID cards and wedding rings.

About 4 000 items are handed in to the office each year.
