Manila - A team of South African relief workers landed in Manila on Friday night to assist with operations after Super Typhoon Haiyan.
The Gift of the Givers team was greeted by SA ambassador to the Philippines Agnes Nyamande-Pitso. The ambassador thanked the team for their work saying it was in the spirit of Ubuntu.

Nyamande-Pitso said the death toll was now over 4 000. She said relief officials were still "pulling bodies" from the rubble in the devastated areas.
Thr GotG team arrived with medical and food supplies. But the NGO's head Imtiaaz Sooliman warned the team they would very likely have to help with the retrieval of bodies.

The team will spend its first 48 hours in Manila, which was unaffected by Haiyan, preparing for its mission, before heading to devastated regions.
