Berlin - Police say two small planes have collided in mid-air over central Germany, killing at least six people.

Police in Friedberg, north of Frankfurt, said the collision happened on Saturday afternoon near the small town of Woelfersheim.

It wasn't immediately clear where the aircraft came from, where they were headed, how many people were on board or what caused the crash.

Unless the weather was detrimental this is a clear case of pilots not keeping a proper lookout, either visually or radio vigilance for conflicting traffic. Any one of the pilots could probably have avoided the incident if a proper look-out was undertaken.Flouting of basic training procedures can and will kill under the "correct" conditions.

"It wasn't immediately clear ..." Journalist speak for "I just don't bloody know" or "I haven't taken the trouble to find out." why do they twaddle around in flowery language, instead of coming out and saying what they mean?
