Tel Aviv - A Palestinian woman was shot after stabbing an Israeli man in the back in the Old City of Jerusalem Wednesday, police said, and a Palestinian man and an Israeli woman were injured in clashes in the southern West Bank.

In Jerusalem's famous Via Dolora Street, an 18-year-old woman from East Jerusalem stabbed an Israeli man, who managed to take out his gun and shoot the stabber, spokesperson Luba Samri said.

Both were injured, the stabber critically and the shooter moderately, she said.

In the southern West Bank, near the Palestinian town of Beit Sahour, masked Palestinian youths clashed with Israeli settlers and troops.

The masked youths hurled rocks at Israeli civilian motorists near a Jewish settlement.

They then dragged an Israeli woman out of the car and beat her up, an Israeli military spokesperson said.

Israeli civilian motorists who drove by, later aided by Israeli security forces, came to her aid and fired at the Palestinians, who fled the scene.

One Palestinian was reported critically injured.

The latest incidents came after days of violence and tensions in Jerusalem and the West Bank.
