Syrian opposition wants interim govt

Paris - The Syrian National Council, Syria's main opposition group is studying the formation of a transitional government, its leader Abdel Basset Sayda said on Tuesday.

"We are currently studying the formation of a transitional government," Sayda said after meeting French President Francois Hollande here against a background of hints from the Syrian regime that President Bashar Assad could soon step down.

"It is a process that requires a lot of consulation. We musn't go too fast but the Syrian National Council will attempt to get there as quickly as possible."

Asked about the possibility of forming a government in exile, Sayda said his priority was creating a government inside the country.

Speaking in Moscow earlier, Syria's Deputy Prime Minister Qadri Jamil said Assad's resignation could not be a condition for negotiations with the opposition but added: "Any problems can be discussed during negotiations. We are even ready to discuss this issue."

Possitive sounds coming from the oppositon, but also from certain members of assad's regime. Everyone realizes now that the future of Syria, is without the assads. Lets hope this Bastard al-assad also starts accepting this. If he had done so 17 months ago, 20000 Syrian lives would not have been lost!!! But this assad should not get away, with his war crimes, and the Syrian population would want him to stand trial!!

The sovereignty of Syria has so far been respected, and I am proud of the way the South African UN representative voted. International intervention would treble the horror.

Syria is a sovereign state. It's government however is illegitimate. How can you be proud of doing nothing to help Syrians literally being butchered in their homes by an unelected dictator in control of the Syrian state and its military.

If you had listened to Russia you could well be in your way to forming that government already, instead you were egged on by your handlers, hoping that the Syrian government would collapse, and that foreigners will come to bomb your country.

Fidel, you are wrong AGAIN !! There is going to be NO assads in a future Syria, Russia does not understand this !!! And forget about foreigners bombing Syria, this assad terrorist id doing that already. Like that gaddafi freak, he also believes, if he can't have 'his' country, than nobody will !!

Assad stepping down and democratic reforms were the very original demands of the protesters .He decided to start killing them ergo the 17month war , he is now looking to escape without a Gaddaffi style exit. Putin the KGB thug and Geppetto to the Assad regime allowed this conflict to drag on and escalate , filtering into neighbours and further destabalise the region. Russian and Ba'athist arrogance thought they could quell the will of the Syrian through force, Syrians however pushed back . Lets see how it turns out.

The terrorists have no option but to swallow a bitter pill and accept military defeat. Their western backers have no choice but to accept that their short sighted approach in Libya has caught up with them and now they will never get any agreement on anything, including the bombing of Iran. You see, u can be clever and unwise at the same time, ask Obama, Cameron, Sarkozy/Hollande and the Zionist pulling the strings at the back . Oh yes fred and anthony, who I think post comments from the same room, can just leak their egos for now and accept that evil does not always prevail as it did in iraq, libya, libanon and all the muslim lands their bosses have obsessions with.

lol.. Zionist control conspiracy , i see you've been trawling the Hamas website again. Protocols of Zion and other such nonsense used to propagate hate and fear. I'm also not sure how land can be religous ? People are but land doesn't give a crap who lives there otherwise it would purge the unbelievers . Remember those lands weren't created muslim and by no means have the first claim by a religous group to them .Lets move on Libya ,uprising started roughly the same time as Syria and it now has had elections and is a functioning constitutional democracy. Iraq , gone from a impoverished , abused and war savaged nation to a federal democracy which religous insurgents are trying to send back . Its not Americans blowing up mosques and markets. Lebanon is well , still reeling from religous led anarchy and sectarian violence from its 15yr civil war . Isreal ceased occupation of Lebanon a full 5 years before Syria (naively thinking it would reduce violence) , the officials from Lebanon and Syria assasinated former prime minister Rafik Harriri , tried to blame Isreal and the cedar revolution took place . Hizbollah emerged as a power political force and not 2 months on launched a series of rocket and cross bordor attacks on Isreal. These obsessions you talk about are delusional , unless we forget places like Bosnia , Korea and other such places that contradict these 'truths' and conspiratorial facts that get flung about by those using the anti-american ,anti-western politcal crutch.

Ninja, zionism = racism of the worst order. Ask every South African who has ever visited the place will tell you that what the nats dished out was nothing as compared to what palestinians and in some cases even arab israelis have to endure. The palestinians are paying for what the germans did to jews during the second world war and of cause with the mentality of monopolosing pain and creating an illusion of permanent innocent victim, israel receives blind support from the west, especially the US and that is a license to kill. Now for you that's democracy because that's arab blood that is spilt. When hamas won elections fair, u deposed them, u sanctioned people for making wrong choices according to u. I do not need to visit any hamas/hizbollah sites as I believe in their justice as much as I believe in the right of jews to live in peace. As for muslim land obsession, yes it is there, its about control and telling others how to live and if they refuse u label them terrorists. A friend of mine, a christian from the west bank enjoys the best friendship between muslims and christians as they both face the same problem, hatred and bombing by settlers. He also told me about the beast in the last days and in my mind that has to be the us and the tail is israel, where we must all bow down to, if we refuse we are bombed and not allowed to trade, u might want to compare notes and see if that is not very scary to signify the such as scary symbol. I thank u and God bless u, inshallah.
