UK abortion clinic targeted by US group

2012-03-14 19:44

London - One of Britain's main abortion providers says a campaign run by a US-based religious group is intimidating women who use its services.

The British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS) says activists from the 40 Days for Life group have been holding vigils outside one of their central London clinics.

A spokesperson for BPAS said on Wednesday that some of the activists have filmed people coming in and out of the clinic. She requested anonymity because she said she has received hate mail.

Robert Colquhoun, a campaign director of 40 Days for Life's London campaign, says its members are carrying out a peaceful Christian prayer vigil. He says the group did not intend to film people using the clinic but some activists did have cameras to film people insulting them.

I can only ask again to judge Christianity by the actions of Christ, and not the actions of Christians.

Fair point- so what would Christ be doing if he was here? Knowing that he always fought on the side of the oppressed... How would he have dealt with this issue?

      piet.strydom - 2012-03-15 21:37

HI Jackie, Christ never "fought on the side of the oppressed", he fought to glorify his Father's name. I personally think he would not have been in the prayer vigil, but inside working with the girls to straighten their lives. But He would never have condoned abortion, as that would be against His Father's will.

So the people looking to peacefully stop infanticide are mocked and ridiculed while the organization that profits from murdering babies mostly for theparent's convenience and avoidance of taking responsibility for their actions are seen as victims. Do we need to be reminded of the outrage that is expressed because of Joseph Kony's soldiers hacking people to death or the war crimes of people being burned alive yet when the same happens to a pre-born baby with a salt solution or vacuumed out of the womb with body parts being ripped off we ridicule the protesters. If we are to kill off babies for the convenience of society then why not kill off all the poor, a racial group or the disabled? Of course that would be rejected because genocide has been accepted as horrendeous and unhumane. We vow to never allow what the Nazis did in WW2 or the genocide in Rwanda or even the atrocities of apartheid to happen again yet day after day babies are legally murdered and the world stands by as if nothing is wrong. Instead of murdering children let's become a people who value life, encourage healthy families, with people who take responsibility for their actions and think of the consequences before the engage sexually. And then when there is an extreme case where a mother cannot keep her child we need to become a culture that adopts rather than kills.

@Africa21stcentury Marie Stopes the founder of the Marie Stopes clinics was part of a movement called eugenics which is dedicated to purifying race, removing any people or people groups who would be regarded as contaminating the gene pool of humanity. These people included the handicapped, the poor, and those deemed not intelligent. Marie Stopes supported and endorsed the Nazi genocide of the Jews, the eradication of the handicapped and anyone else who did not fit racial purity profiling. She also left her savings to the movement which has resulted in abortion clinics being established around the world. This organization endorses and isin partnership with the Chinese government in their forced abortion and forced sterilization protocol and leading the way in rural areas of South Africa as well as in the townships. Why there? To continue the legacy of Marie Stopes' philosophy of eugenics by removing poverty by removing the poor. Instead of address ing poverty and social ills our society would rather remove the evidence of it which is a likened to removing the fruit rather thanremoving the tree. What many people dont realize is the emotional and spiritual damage let alone the physical damage that a woman goes through in an abortion. Many women become barren after an abortion, many can't face having a hold later on because of the trauma that is revisited when exposed to the realization of what they did. Of course someone always dies in an abortion too.

@Mark, Although I am pro-abortion, there is no problem, having a debate on this issue, but your comments are ludicrous, to say the very least !! For me, the first step to address the issue of abortion, would be to have the pope arrested, and send him to the Hague, to face charges of crimes against humanity. It is to a large extend, through the stance of the Roman Catholic church, by not allowing to wear condoms during sex, that their are so many unwanted pregnancies !!!!!! To let the pope stand trial, and when convicted, send him to jail for a minimum of 20 years, will be a welcome boost, for as well the pro as the anti abortion camps!!!

More tolerance and turning the other cheek by christians. Hypocrites, each and every one. Two of the greatest problems faced by mankind today are over-population and dysfunctional homes. Abortion is a human, not humane, solution to the problem of unwanted babies. Promiscuity is a character trait of many animals, humans included, and for us to turn a blind eye to one of the end results of unprotected sex, is to deny our very existence. Only a religious person would place the life of an undeveloped human over that of the well-being of the rest of humanity.
