UK hit by 'senseless violence'

2011-08-10 09:05

London -The rioting and looting that hit Manchester was an act of "senseless violence and senseless criminality" on a scale not witnessed in 30 years, a senior police officer said on Tuesday.

The violence, committed by people with "nothing to protest against", has brought "shame on the streets" of the city, Assistant Chief Constable Garry Shewan of Greater Manchester Police said.

"These are pure and simple criminals running wild tonight," said Shewan.

"They have nothing to protest against there has been no spark. This has been senseless violence and senseless criminality on a scale I have never witnessed before."

Shewan, who joined the force after moving to the city in 1981, said the violence had ripped the "heart out of two great cities" and appealed to the public to "think very carefully about who they support" when the operation to catch the looters begins.

"We have extensive CCTV of all the activity that has gone on tonight. We have made it absolutely clear that as early as tomorrow morning we will be coming to make arrests," he added.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed that 47 arrests had been made in Manchester and Salford as sporadic fires burned across the area.

Hundreds of masked youths tore through the centre of Britain's third-largest city, going on a looting spree as the worst riots for decades spread beyond London.

The youths smashed shop windows and went looting, setting fire to shops and hurling missiles at police.

Councillor Pat Karney, city centre spokesperson for Manchester City Council said it was "one of the worst days in Manchester's history."

"People in Manchester and Salford are very angry about what has been done to this city and their city centres in Manchester and Salford," he said.

Behaving like the uncouth s@v@ges that they are from a country that claims to be 1st world and in progression!

      Daemos1 - 2011-08-10 09:45

      is 'savages' a dirty word?

      joy.termorshuizen - 2011-08-10 09:47

Slojam....that is exactly the point. They ARE uncouth savages!

      open-minded - 2011-08-10 09:52

Thats nothing compare what will still happen in the years to come...The unemployment rate is rising on a daily base and the economy system is not stable, countries are cutting their spending BUDGET and companies are retrenching BUT they are still FLOODING the media with consumerism...

      HumanKind - 2011-08-10 10:58

Shoot the m@@@@@f@@@ers, with live ammunition. Too soft on these criminals, not just in Britain, in SA as well

      The lost Emperor ? - 2011-08-10 12:29

Yes, this "human rights" rubbish must be more clearly defined. If you act like a savage, human rights don't apply to you. How can the law be enforced when people are too scared to touch the criminals, because of their "human rights"? Same with corporal punishment and the death sentence. If you kill someone, you relinquish your rights, because you stripped human life off another.

      amos - 2011-08-10 12:43

It is not senseless is acquired violence. These rioters are merely repeating what they learnt from the thieving and murderous bast*rds that run the British government. Check what the Nato killers are doing to the Libyans. Rather send the NATO killers instead to UK / London. This is beyond words. And once more, the world is not paying attention to this Nato crimes. They are going to kill and kill. Leave another devastated country. Europeans are killers and liers. Best in both - world wide.

      slg - 2011-08-10 17:30

Amos, Libya has been run by a brutal dictator for 40 years who is killing, maiming and raping its citizens to try and suppress their demands for positive change.

The IOC needs to find Plan B for the Olympics ASAP...There's no order in England.

      Stinkhout - 2011-08-10 09:53

Why? Just add rioting as a new Olympic event. I think SA will take the gold in this one.

      James - 2011-08-10 10:05

The security at the Olympic stadium was insane. Nothing there was touched. England was caught off guard and is now paying the price for loose immigration policies in the past.

      Matt :-) - 2011-08-10 11:43

The UK shouldn't have the Olympics to start with, we can't afford it... at one stage there were fears they had to stop the building work due to lack of funds!

      amos - 2011-08-10 12:46

  • Brigitte - 2011-08-10 09:18

Imagine that - mostly single parent households, siblings all by different fathers (all absent!)housed by the taxpayer, never worked a day, then those kids start having kids at 16 too - get a free house, don't work etc etc etc - no discipline in schools or at home, been sniffing glue since they were 7 - how is the destruction of the moral fibre of society the governments fault? They got rid of corporal punishment, banned teaching the ten commandments, some schools they don't even teach in english any more. Bring back borstal, unmarried mothers homes (then if you keep your child you stay with your parents not a free council house)and so on - it makes me want to cry what has happened to our lovely country.

      Ollie - 2011-08-10 09:21

I am a single parent and have brought up two well behaved children that are doing very well thank you. Don't slander single parents please!!!!

      Brigitte - 2011-08-10 09:31

@ollie - no offence meant - there are many wonderful single parents out there who instill correct values in their children - unfortunately, the demographics of many of these inner city areas show that you may be in the minority in one of those areas.

      Brigitte - 2011-08-10 09:32

@mathaithai - since when did we have apartheid in England?

      Milray - 2011-08-10 09:33

Well said and so true the youth of today are treated with kid gloves now it is time ti give them back what they dish out Ray

      Jack - 2011-08-10 09:34

@Mothaithai: She's obviously British your moron, judging from the content! Someone taught you to read but not think, ey?

      DW - 2011-08-10 09:36

Actually Mathaithai, Brigitte seems to be British (by her comments) and her comments had nothing to do with apartheid. If you think you see some sort of similarity to our current state, though....if the shoe fits, wear it. Stop being so sensitive and thinking that everyone who comments here is a racist idiot like you.

      jay - 2011-08-10 09:40

Brigitte, unfortunately this may only be the tip of the iceberg. But you said it.. the freedom our western society has, has resulted in our youths having no guidelines to adhere to. Anoher "lost" generation and they are not to blame!!!No more morals in our world and many politicians are bad examples working only to stay in power, no matter what cost. "tickling the ears...." Where is this all leading to?

      Peacock - 2011-08-10 09:41

@ Ollie. If you have witnessed the over all life style in England, then Bridgette has a very valid comment. My daughter is in England and has just had a baby. Her husband - from England - says that when she goes back to work, he will give up his.?????? Why?? I do not know ?? Lazy bugger. he is a good father but an idle sod. If you discipline your child, then you will be prosocuted for child abuse, and your child will be taken away . This is what has happend to the current generation, they know they can get away with it. Peer pressure plays a huge role as well.

      Badballie - 2011-08-10 09:41

Their policy of importing 50 000 african immigrants a years doesn't help either, no wonder no one over there can find decent jobs

      joy.termorshuizen - 2011-08-10 09:44

Brigitte, You are 100% correct. Council trash...never worked for generations....everything given to them for free. Now the government is tryng to rescue the country from bankruptcy they dont like it. Take away social grants for this scum and send them to work. If they dont like it , they can go back where they came from!!!

      madoda.moses - 2011-08-10 10:03

JOY Black people did not come to your country first but white people came on the pretext of civilising them while looting their country"S resources and taking them as slave forgeting one thing nothing stay the same .

      HumanKind - 2011-08-10 10:09

Sounds like you are referring to South Africa

      Totman - 2011-08-10 10:14

@Brigitte. You address the exact problem with human kind and it will show its head all over the world. There are very good reasons for rules, regulations, etc. that ensure a free human being with in the limits, not offending other. Yes, we now there are people that also misuse it, but we are supposed to resist and keep the standard. Unfortunately the human have a weakness that a lot of religions and even non-believers will see as the biggest sin/flaw. GREED!!!

      Equality - 2011-08-10 10:19

Well said Brigitte! As a Pom, I'm fed up with all the hand outs the Government give. Where else in the world are you better off on government handouts than doing a hard days work? We have created a lazy society where those who don't aspire to a better life can sit at home and breed like rabbits, while us mugs who work hard and pay taxes fund it!!! We need to make people have respect again for other people and their property, and more importantly themselves! Unfortunately I don't think there is a quick fix......

      Arcturus - 2011-08-10 10:38

I agree, Brigitte..... Also bring back Conscription! Children are children and too much pressure has been put onto them by allowing them to make their own decisions - e.g. "Do you want to do this..." "Do you want to do that..." They need to be TOLD what is best for them. After all... haven't adults got a sense of responsibility - Oh no... sorry - this is second generation degeneration!!

      Arcturus - 2011-08-10 10:42

Mathaithai... get over yourself... this is NOT all about you!!! People like you would relate everything back to apartheid... do yourself a huge favour... stop blaming everything and everyone for your stupidity, get up and make something of yourself - FOR yourself - you'll be amazed at how satisfying it is to work hard for something and ACHIEVE it!

      Matt :-) - 2011-08-10 11:51

@ Brigitte - oh come on... there's a class system similar to the Indian Caste system - if you're born in a dodgy part of town, the odds are you'll always remain dirt. And what about 11 years ago with the race riots, when they built walls to section Asian and White areas? @ Ollie - As for the single parent part, I doubt Brigitte was referring to you. There are so many good people who become single parents due to a host of circumstances. My mom had a really tough time as a single parent in the UK during the 1980s. But in the UK, there is a difference. There are women there who have kids ONLY to get child benefit. Their kids run around in plastic bags because mommy spends the benefit money on booze and smokes. Plus, young girls know over there that if they fall pregnant at 16, the council BY LAW has to find them a house AND PAY THEIR RENT. Also, the UK has lost all its morality, kids are sleeping around at ages when they should be playing with dolls and falling pregnant. Getting an abortion over there is almost as casual as getting your teeth cleaned, but those who have the kids do it because they know how much they'll get out of the Welfare State. This all especially applies to the "underclass" - to describe the underclass to South Africans, well take the attitude towards black people by certain racist whites, and apply it to them "but worse". Walking down a British street is like walking in the "Thriller" video clip. Very nasty folk. So glad I left!

      Matt :-) - 2011-08-10 11:54

@ Peacock - probably the husband you're referring to has an attitude which is getting common in England - rather go "on the dole" and the benefits work out to around £21k a year, then work for the same or less and pay income tax. When I was young and in the UK, being unemployed and on the dole was a SHAME. You were openly made to feel like a cheat, lazy and a scrounger of tax money. Today it is far more socially acceptable to make unemployment a career choice...

      The Observer - 2011-08-10 11:59

what the hell mathai and madoda. This has got nothing to do with black and you two typical fools think the world ends at black and apartheid. Geez you lot are a truly sad bunch. Although while you two at the point of apartheid etc. what is happening in Britain is what will be happening here in SA with all the free stuff you lot are receiving(and you asked for this comment).

      Matt :-) - 2011-08-10 12:00

To explain the benefits of being out of work in the UK... * Jobseekers Allowance (aka dole, it's like UIF) - £60.50 per week tax-free for as long as you like. Requirements: fill in a card with 2 job-seeking activities per week, then visit the Job Centre every 2 weeks to show it. No proof needed so you can just fake everything. * Being jobless, the council pays for your rent. +/- £650 per month. * Being jobless, the council pays for your council tax (similar to rates). £150 per month (couple's rate) * If you have a child - £20.30 per week child benefit till the child is 18. * You can claim for "tax credits" which is an extra benefit to make our income a liveable salary. All you have to pay for yourself is food + utilities + travel. Compare that to a worker on an average £15k a year / £1200 per month: 1200 - income tax 300 = 900 left 900 - council tax 150 = 750 left 900 - rent 650 = 250 left 250 - utilities 100pm = 150 left 150 - transport 80 (bus 4 x 20) = 70 left Now feed yourself... either you apply for tax credits as well, or you need a 2nd job (or a working spouse)

  • Nintendo - 2011-08-10 09:31

senseless violence and criminality my foot!!!! when it happens in Yemen, Egypt, Lybia etc its called "Peaceful demonstrations against an oppressive regime" the common tread in all this is young people with no hope i suspect its gonna happen in this our beloved....

      open-minded - 2011-08-10 10:00

People need to take whats is given by the media and look at it very critically before lending an opinion...what happen in England its almost the same as what happen in Egypt... Greece was another story a month AGO...PEOPLE ARE FED UP!!

      Totman - 2011-08-10 10:28

Take away politics and realize that with no hope you going to get people that start rioting. Can we accept different from a society that do not have a good value based system to fall back on? Young people who live in a much faster live that do not know patients, with fast way of communication, that looks for quick solutions. We, human kind, neglect to form good foundations.

      tkotze - 2011-08-10 10:36

open-minded, how exactly are people fed up? The messages spread to continue violence was motivated by "get free stuff from looting", and the original protest started after a black man was shot and killed. Jury is out on whether he shot at the police with the firearm found, but that is where it stared and escalated to rumoured 16 year old attacked. But that was all limited to single municipality. This is not about people being fed-up with government, it is about a mentality of kids that rely on the Doll-system. The movies "Kids" and "Trainspotting" is not that far off from the reality. And unfortunately this whole thing happened in a suburb seen as a black suburb which does not help racial co-existence and prevent racial profiling. I believe exactly the same can happen in any country, from USA to France, Israel to South Africa. All you need is a group of youth together with one man inciting them and then come mob-mentality and un-earned gains by stealing. Then you get SMSse or another form of messaging to get another areas youth involved and after they saw what happened somewhere else they easily follow suit. But as my friends from UK said:"Throw away the rubber bullets and start shooting them with real ones. They are scaring us, the useless youths with no future in front of them"

      Dilika - 2011-08-10 10:40

Nintendo you have got it spot on. Where is NATO with their "no-fly-zone".

      Matt :-) - 2011-08-10 12:03

@ open-minded - exactly how are 9-year-old kids fed up with the economy? Yes, there are KIDS doing the rioting and looting there right now!

      slojam - 2011-08-10 12:37

@Nintendo - So are you saying that the UK government is an oppressive regime? If NOT, then your point is invalid! If you are correct then bring in NATO, the UN and the entire African envoy to resolve this crisis.

  • Drewster - 2011-08-10 09:31

Isn't it interesting that in so many parts of the world the same people are the cause of violent crime and social disharmony. Always the oppressed, always the victim. Why is that?

what is your point,be more specific

      joy.termorshuizen - 2011-08-10 09:45

Its the same in every country. Its in the mindset...will never change!!

      Leftyloosy - 2011-08-10 09:45

Studies show that in places where there are huge inequalities the propensity for violent crime is higher. Think South Africa.

      Couldn't agree more!

      ProudofPink - 2011-08-10 10:43

Spot on comment. It's ALWAYS the same people. What I think is absolutely brilliant though, is the vigilante group that has now formed because the police cannot do the job and they're also sick and tired of the bunny hugging human rights etc. attitude from the cops. Well done to the vigilantes. Go and get the little sods.

      Arcturus - 2011-08-10 10:58

The 'people' rampaging and looting in London are not doing it because of oppression! They are hooligans that see an opportunity to get a new B&O or several pairs of Nike's for nothing!! Are you watching the same news as I am, Drewster... or were you not talking about London?

You know I don't feel sorry for Britain one bit, because they created that society, by taking God out of the schools and took caning away as well. They complain about the parents not being responsible in keeping their children indoors, but they took away the right of the parent to discipline their children in a God fearing way! I feel sorry for the victims though, who want to do nothing but live a civil and peaceful life.

@ Politicallycorrect - YES! Take God out of the schools, take God out of society, persecute anyone daring to be Christian, replace that with a godless society, teach in schools that Darwin was virtually deity and 100% correct, add political correctness which means that "English" is bad and "foreign" means loads of freebies and extra protection, go VERY soft on crime so that people can be broken in every month or even every week without fail, remove all forms of discipline which mean a child can do anything it wants without any punishment... and what do you get? The TRASH CAN that is the UK today. I love being British but I hate what the place has become. And now these mindless riots!

  • Badballie - 2011-08-10 09:40

It's not senseless, it actually makes a lot of sense. In a 1st world country where the youth have not had to struggle for/work towards anything for generations, a sense of entitlement results in a lack of respect for others' property and looting becomes just 'something else to do'

      Arcturus - 2011-08-10 11:04

I agree a 3rd world country where the youth have rebelled against education by burning schools, buses, trains and books and avoiding work, a sense of entitlement results in a lack of respect for others' property and crime becomes just 'something else to do'

      Matt :-) - 2011-08-10 12:10

The UK hasn't been 1st World for ages... you'd be horrified by the stats. something like 5 million households are under the breadline, some 10 million people don't have access to running water or proper meals... yes this is the UK for real! • Jackool - 2011-08-10 09:51

To the smirking grinning South Africans out there...your time will come to when the hungry and the poor will get sick of watching you drive around in your luxury cars, chill in your mansions and holiday houses, living your extravagant café/restaurant life, while they struggle to put food in the bellies of their children. The anger behind the riots relates to people who work damned hard every single day, but are paid such low salaries that they can not make their pathetic ends meet, without the government (tax payers) help. Since the latter has been removed, because the ultra rich and multinational giants refuse to pay more in tax, the light at the end of the tunnel for these people have been extinguished. According to UN stats 1% of the world owns 40% of the wealth. Think about it. I must say though, that I do not understand these gangs attacking small businesses in their local areas. Venting their anger at Buckingham Palace, the Banks and the big corporations would make a lot more sense, and demand much more respect and understanding. I suppose desperation clouds the sensible mind.

      James - 2011-08-10 10:02

Most of the rioters were kids on school holiday looting. Plain and simple. This was lawlessness that should have been dealt with using rubber bullets and tear gas. These people all have houses paid for by the state, they get the doll. There is no excuse for that in the UK at all. News flash. Sort your own varking life out and stop expecting handouts. The reason people have nice cars and nice houses is 100% down to damn hard work. You say it is people who work damn hard everyday. They do not work, they just free load.

      Jackool - 2011-08-10 10:16

@James...thats what you'd like to say and think. And that is exactly the type of sentiment that leads to the anger that lead to the events.

      ProudofPink - 2011-08-10 10:48

And what leads to the sheer criminality of what's going on? There is no excuse, there is no reason for this type of behaviour as it's nothing but criminal.

      tkotze - 2011-08-10 11:25

Sorry Jack, I agree with James. Even the social workers, the ones that is their to protect and assist the youth, those that love their jobs, those that work in the affected area has the same reply: This is youth with nothing to do and using the opportunity to loot and get free stuff. This is not some hatred or feeling that accumulated over time, this is just plain chaos due to incitement.

      Jackool - 2011-08-10 14:49

Well, the "there is no excuse" lobbyists are to be found all over the world through many centuries and have blurted out the same rhetoric to the "mob" during the French Revolution, the anti apartheid movement, the Syrian Revolution, the Egyptian revolution, etc. All very different in their nature, but always a large group of society tired of their opinions not counting and having to live under awful conditions while others bath in milk and honey...and the guys at the top never seem to understand or want to understand what the fuss is all about...until of course change is upon them and they are forced to view the world differently. Mandela was also just a criminal doing criminal acts, until he became president of course. @ Tkotze. You are right about the social workers...they were after all also the ones that warned the government and predicted what would happen if the the Government closed 4 out 5 youth centers in impoverished areas.

This riot is happening for a reason, perhaps frustration and harrassment - but nothing in life is senseless, doesn't matter how hard the rich folk and government try to paint it that way. These people believe they are fighting for a cause and most likely that cause is that they want to be heard...

      IP Onmalema - 2011-08-10 10:52

So largescale looting (theft) and destruction of other peoples property constitutes fighting for a cause?

      BokomoWeetbi - 2011-08-10 11:40

@IP Onmalema - lol, clearly you want everyone else to perceive your opinion as the only valid one. Please read my comment again perhaps you will gain greater insight into what is being said. There was no mention that looting, etc was a cause for reads "perhaps frustration and harrassment"...if you are too illiterate to pay attention to the finer details then there is no point in continuing this discussion with you. Get educated!

      BokomoWeetbi - 2011-08-10 11:41

@IP Onmalema - besides " largescale looting (theft) and destruction of other peoples property" is the result and not the cause

  • BokomoWeetbi - 2011-08-10 10:17

n one NBC report, a young man in Tottenham was asked if rioting really achieved anything: "Yes," said the young man. "You wouldn't be talking to me now if we didn't riot, would you?" "Two months ago we marched to Scotland Yard, more than 2,000 of us, all blacks, and it was peaceful and calm and you know what? Not a word in the press. Last night a bit of rioting and looting and look around you." Eavesdropping from among the onlookers, I looked around. A dozen TV crews and newspaper reporters interviewing the young men everywhere ‘’’

  • Mathaithai - 2011-08-10 10:23

OnMalema, you forgot to say whites must go back to europe!!!!!!!

      Totman - 2011-08-10 10:46

Just as I hear one racist from the one side the other one from the other side jump out. Will it be so difficult for you guys to work together, agree on something and compliment each other for a change on News24. Please do it. We need more rain. Why don't you split SA in two and live separate. Maybe than you will realize that you need each other.

      IP Onmalema - 2011-08-10 10:47

England is part of Europe you ignoramus.

      Matt :-) - 2011-08-10 12:11

@ IP Onmalema - oh, in name only...

  • Kunta-Kinte - 2011-08-10 10:25

The proles are reverting to their dark ages way of life. The bankers are their new feudal lords. Its time that Europeans worked like dogs and stop living off the back of brown people.

      IP Onmalema - 2011-08-10 10:49

Hahaha you are so the victim arent you? Whites are the workers while brown people live off the state, same in SA , USA, Australia etc etc.

      Lanfear - 2011-08-10 11:27

ROFLMAO! The day your so-called "brown" people can work as hard as Europeans or Asians, that is the day Africa will start to thrive.

      BokomoWeetbi - 2011-08-10 11:58

@Lanfear - brown people are doing all the work anyway, while the whites are still the bosses. They work harder than you and without brown people do the actual work you would be nothing

  • tim - 2011-08-10 10:27

Damn! Is there no stopping these Muslims?

      Matt :-) - 2011-08-10 12:12

In the 1990s they had riots in Manningham (Bradford; Asians-only area). Their MO is that they can do what they like, and the second a policeman arrests an Asian, instant race-riots... sad!

The results of uncontrolled immigration, progressive education, the permissive society, the erosion of law and order and the endless expansion of the welfare state are becoming ever more evident.

      morgary - 2011-08-10 11:17

Remember Enoch Powell,he predicted this in the u.k in the sixties with immigrants.

      Matt :-) - 2011-08-10 12:13

Enoch Powell was virtually a prophet with a whole range of things! He was tipped to become PM, but his speech on immigration caused the politically correct hippies to pressurise him to quit the party...

  • psydomx - 2011-08-10 10:33

This is what happens when you dont discipline your children, SA is heading in the same direction." SPARE THE ROD SPOIL THE CHILD"

      jacksback - 2011-08-10 10:46

That's what I've been saying all along. The UK has slowly created this monster by removing discipline. Where else in the world can you swear at a cop and not be punished? I was there for 8 years and the kids there are a nasty piece of work. They don't respect anything and keep getting government handouts. Kids are having kids and why not, you get a free flat if you do. How is rewarding someone for doing something wrong helping the situation? Pathetic if you ask me and will anything be done about it? Not a stuff because they'll blame everything else except the removal of discipline. Bring the cane back!

      Matt :-) - 2011-08-10 12:15

@ Jacksback - "Where else in the world can you swear at a cop and not be punished?" -> The Netherlands... And the kids over in the UK are horrid little creatures. Last time I was there, I'd be in a bus going to Bristol CBD and the bus would be pelted with stones... yup, the kids are bored... and the gangs, oh the gangs! A gang of these little b'stards which terrorise whole neighbourhoods, but 1) you cannot do ANYTHING to them because of human rights, 2) especially as they're minors, 3) the police cannot prosecute them as they're minors and they KNOW...

the problem is that England is bussy middling in external affairs (Lybia) how do they fill when violence is happening in their backyard

      ProudofPink - 2011-08-10 10:51

Get a life, or better still, go play in the traffic.

  • Hads - 2011-08-10 11:37

Humankind is correct. The only way to deal with thugs is to shoot the bastards. It will stop instantly. But of course you have things like human right etc.The Head of police said that they will go out in force, but not armed only batons. What good are they. The moment you hit a thug he can have you arrested for hitting an unarmed man (thug). And Mathaithai you are right, there was peace, employment food for all and medical for all in the old days, but wait they are coming back.

  • greatgodpan - 2011-08-10 11:45

there is no law and discipline anywhere anymore. Blame it on the welfare state and the liberal progressive mindset.....when your laws become relative they are no longer laws but merely pretty theories which can be manipulated and interpreted to suit your own agenda..............strange (not) that the population and racial demographics seem to be speaking volumes once again..............

  • Jacob - 2011-08-10 11:52

Shoot a few of them dead - the others will stop quickly. They riot because they know they can get away with it

  • Sharief - 2011-08-10 12:03

Its senseless violence like the senseless war their troops are fighting in Arab countries..what goes around will come around!!

  • Brian - 2011-08-10 12:05

“The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.” -- Thomas Jefferson

  • elichiac - 2011-08-10 12:22

NO Discipline that is the problem. UK Kids run riot in there homes and now they are taking it to the streets.

  • The lost Emperor ? - 2011-08-10 12:28

  • Cowley - 2011-08-10 12:30

Tell him to come and live here. senseless violence is the order of the day.

  • Crispy_Duck - 2011-08-10 13:18

"one of the worst days in Manchester's history." Jeez...considering Manchester is such a sh*thole, things must be REALLY bad!

  • KakSak - 2011-08-10 14:22

Suddenly our toi-toi brigades seem peaceful compared to these 'well behaved' English lads.

  • Thinus - 2011-08-10 15:12

open minded, I agree with you. The western economies is mainly driven by consumarism, and that is why they now more than ever will brainwash the good citizens of this world to consume even more. If they fail with this drive, more companies will close doors and people will loose their jobs, and that is when the BIG problems really start. The USA and the other countries going bankrupt cannot sustain their economies just by making more debt. There is just not enough people employed to carry this burden. The USA will have to stop spending money on their foreign policy, so try and keep the money inside their own borders.Thery have to bring the jobs back to the USA if they want to have a fighting chnace to push through the next financial crisis. Go visit sighn up and check the information on that site. It WILL add value to you. South Africa should also follow suite obviously. We as a Country should take back our jobs from China. Of teh 600 billion imports to SA in 2010, 298 billion imports came from China alone! I ask myself, why do we as a nation not do anything about this? We have so many people unemplyed, 25% if I am not mistaken, children starving, babies in need of medical care, old people in need of the same. Capitalism has its place, but it creates monopolies. Volumes is always cheaper as we all know. It creates classes, and mainly two. Super rich and super poor. Space ran out for know!SA can do it!!!!!!!

  • Enockay - 2011-08-10 16:36

where are all the SA bashers, lately no country in the world is safer...

Job Centre Plus Vacancies Most countries in Europe have been struggling with unemployment and getting suitable job opportunities for the unemployed. The public service employment services were seeking to improve the chances of low income and unemployed people to get suitable placement in the yester years. The public employment agencies came together with benefits agency to form what is now called job centre plus. This is a service that is funded by the government and is offered free of charge to persons who have been through a rough patch such as low income or loss of employment as well as unemployed people. The aim of Job centre plus is to bridge the gap between the labour market and the employers to create an easier process for people to access opportunities. The Job centre plus not only provides employment opportunities and benefits but also gives the unemployed people other services such as CV writing. They also guide job seekers on how to access unemployment benefits and advice them on which ones they qualify for. This goes a long way in ensuring that the lives of people who are unemployed are much more fulfilling as the process of looking for a job can be really draining. Employers are able to access the job seekers through the job centre plus online websites where they can upload the jobs that are available to the market.
