UK mom confronted soldier 'butchers'

2013-05-23 07:53

London - A woman who challenged knife-wielding assailants suspected of hacking to death a British soldier in London on Wednesday said she intervened because "it was better having them [the weapons] aimed on one person".

Cub scout leader and mother-of-two Ingrid Loyau-Kennett, aged 48, explained in Thursday's Daily Telegraph that one of the men told her they wanted "to start a war in London tonight" when she asked them why they had carried out the attack.

The mother-of-two ran from a passing bus after seeing the victim lying in the road and tried to take his pulse.

It was only then that she noticed the arsenal of weapons, including knives and a revolver.

"He was not high, he was not on drugs, he was not an alcoholic or drunk, he was just distressed, upset," she said of the first attacker she talked to, the paper reported.

"I said 'right now it is only you versus many people, you are going to lose, what would you like to do?' and he said 'I would like to stay and fight'."

She later approached the second suspect and asked for him to hand over his weapons.

"I thought it was better having them aimed on one person like me rather than everybody there, children were starting to leave school as well," she told the Telegraph.

Britain's top policeman confirmed two men had been arrested following the "shocking and horrific" attack.

"We have launched a murder investigation, being led by the Counter Terrorism Command," explained Metropolitan Police Commissioner Bernard Hogan-Howe

"Two men have been arrested in connection with that murder."

Brave woman - but it seems clear that the target was the military man and not civilians.

      Foc Us - 2013-05-23 08:40

@Amanda ... have been drinking THIS early?? What are you TALKING about??

      Jaco De Villiers - 2013-05-23 08:50

@Amanda You are about as sharp as a golfball! Get a life.

      Wendy Nezar Schmidt - 2013-05-23 08:55

      Matthew Jones - 2013-05-23 09:58

      Themba Mazibuko - 2013-05-23 17:39

What so clear about that - the man was not wearing a military uniform ??

      Jack Bullard - 2013-05-23 20:21

Condolences to the family of the soldier. That was someone's beloved son that was massacred. His brothers in arms wil know what to do.

  • Vuyo Manisi - 2013-05-23 08:02

if the guy had attacked you, who was gonna protect you mom?

      Arthur Salvado - 2013-05-23 08:12

From the tv scenes I saw, if he attacked anyone, who was going to protect them. Mom or child, the public audience was virtually paralyzed . Brave mom indeed.

      Arthur Salvado - 2013-05-23 08:14

Martin, the equation to animals is somewhat wrong. More like barbaric humans ???

      Kirsten Anne Foster - 2013-05-23 16:00

I wonder what happens to the women in his home country- killed by british soldiers. yes we call them terrorists- but they call themselves soldiers. Very sad this whole stupid war

      Amatambo - 2013-05-23 18:14

No, Martin - NOT animals, as animals don't kill for pleasure, rape, pollute their environment, commit treason, fraud, in fact, do all these things that sub-humans do. Take note, I said SUB-HUMANS, not normal rational beings as well as animals. Pleas, in future, refer to such filth that killed for pleasure as 3rd-grade species of sub-humanity... Thanks...

  • Jane Longmuir - 2013-05-23 08:05

Brave woman but there is no reasoning with people who commit atrocious acts like this :(. Condolences to this poor man's family and friends, may you find the strength to carry on! R.I.P.

  • NickvanGraan - 2013-05-23 08:10

You are going to start seeing growing support for more conservative/right wing parties in the UK. People have had enough of scumbags with issues making use of their country to further their cockeyed aims. They get in easily and it almost impossible to kick them out. The fact that these morons were so called "Brits" is irrelevant.

      Ahava Shapiro - 2013-05-23 09:22

" People have had enough of scumbags with issues making use of their country to further their cockeyed aims" These guys committed a heinous crime, the above quote from your comment can be inversely applied too, it sums up some of the feelings of citizens whose countries The British have colonised / invaded over the ages. I am not quite sure what the solution can be, sending people back to their land of origin or counter attacks, is not a solution.

      NickvanGraan - 2013-05-23 10:11

@Buti, I cannot wait for you to say something intelligent.

  • Arthur Salvado - 2013-05-23 08:10

Their actions are100% unjustified and barbaric but a lot of Muslims feel powerless in the face of what they see as many war injustices and lack of accountability for many innocent lives. These terrorists must rot in jail. Uk must introduce stricter immigration rules. The reality is that the UK could well be a Muslim country in 50 years time. Go figure

      Jane Longmuir - 2013-05-23 11:43

Arthur, I watched a speech by a Labour Muslim MP in which he stated very clearly that it was his intention to do everything possible to make sure Britain became a Muslim country! In some cities, white secular/Christian inhabitants are definitely in the minority and the problem I have with this is that by remaining silent, the ordinary law-abiding Muslims appear to condone these acts, rightly or wrongly :(

  • Joey Somai - 2013-05-23 08:30

I cannot understand why do people say the behave like ANIMALS.where on earth have you been and seen animals behave like this??????

      Joe Carl - 2013-05-23 08:43

Because humans are animals. Its religion that has given us a false superiority over all creation.

      Lisa Gibson - 2013-05-23 09:04

      Animals don't behave like this.

Alex Van Heerden - 2013-05-23 09:05 South Africa machete (panga) attacks are a everyday occurence, damn shame that we don't even make morning news, never mind world headlines.

  • Nthokolose Puleng Marope - 2013-05-23 08:39

Do you still want to immigrate to the Great Britain?????

      Joe Carl - 2013-05-23 08:43

      DuToitCoetzee - 2013-05-23 10:06

Let me correct you. THE BEST!!!!!

  • Dane Herbst - 2013-05-23 08:49

the guy is extremely calm in the video footage i saw, he clearly was out there to make a point on a military person, he wasnt out there to harm the public, im not condoning the attack at all, but the yanks and the Poms step on everyones toes, and when this happens this wonders why, he said it, the government dont care about u, they are only after oil and more money, and that leads to blood shed

      Nigel James Turner - 2013-05-23 08:57

So the next time a white farmer is murdered in SA, it's OK to blame it on Apartheid and poverty?

      Michael de Jager - 2013-05-23 09:00

So true eh,you dnt see SKY and BBC showing the footage...

      Leonard Tsolo - 2013-05-23 09:15

Thanks God for there are people like Dane who can see and realize the truth.

      Dane Herbst - 2013-05-23 10:11

what the hell are you on about nigel?? what does apartheid have to do with this??

      Michael de Jager - 2013-05-23 10:41

Methinks Nigel can't think beyond the borders of Orania...soldiers asked not to wear uniforms in public

      Donovan Hendricks - 2013-05-23 12:39

Dane we can argue until the chickens come to roost as to who have done what(the west and muslims)the fact is:Islam proclaims to be a religion of peace and yet innocents are slaughtered in the name of their god.did this unforrunate man himself ever killed a muslim?

      Charles Alfonso - 2013-05-23 16:49

Yanks and poms stepping on everyone's toes. When they leave Afghanistan and Iraq blood will flow. The extremist's are going to punish the loyalist's. What is the rest of the world going to say? Shame you deserted the very people you were meant to protect. The people of Mali have begged the French to save them from the extremist's and not to leave the territory. They want to be saved from a life of hell. So many countries populated by muslims are the most violent on this planet. Soldiers from all over the world are in these countries to protect citizens who simply want a better life. America and British soldiers just happen to make up the bulk of the forces. Muslim Iran is supporting the Syrian government who has maimed and killed thousands of civilians. I really think that if you were living in one of these countries and not from the muslim community you would welcome the yanks and poms with open arms toe stepping or not.

  • Michael de Jager - 2013-05-23 08:57

It took Police 20min to arrive at scene, onlookers just watch...everything caught on mobiles yet BBC and Sky news don't show footage...if it happened anywhere else they would have shown the footage over and over...

      Themba Mazibuko - 2013-05-23 09:40

Why dont they show the footage ?

      Omnivore - 2013-05-23 16:59

      liveleak dot com

      Deon Evert - 2013-05-23 22:14

Because ITV had rights to the footage...

  • John Barakat - 2013-05-23 09:11

Whether this was real or engineered, it will have one outcome. Support the idea of stricter immigration laws and expulsion of undesirable foreigners. And this will be throughout Europe and the USA. Incidents like this will be used to "justify" retaliation against the Middle East and North/West Africa for "terrorism" against the West. retaliation

      Jack Bullard - 2013-05-23 20:30

Yes, beware the 'false flag'. Could very well have been a setup to help the government counter the negative ratings lately. Its a bad world out there. Not much sacred anymore.

  • Michael de Jager - 2013-05-23 09:11

  • James Smythe - 2013-05-23 17:13

For NO LESS than 20 minutes these two butchers walked up and down the street, ranting and raving their anti-western rubbish - and nobody could take them down! When the cops finally arrived they shot them both, using 6 rounds and yet merely injured them. They should undergo retraining asap. This is the farcical and tragic scenario which is guaranteed to result when all guns for civilians are banned - people can be butchered in a busy city street and none dare intervene or indeed have the means to intervene successfully!

  • Bruce Sahli - 2013-05-23 17:22

    Hang the PHUQS

  • Ivy Malema - 2013-05-23 17:33

England should investigate what might have caused people to resort to such an act, it might help them to solve or prevent any similar frm happen ever again. Maybe they were treated inhumanly by the system

      Ian Rowe - 2013-05-23 19:48

No way, these people never lift a finger the system punishes the hard working and honest people the system is a balls up,these people are of Nigerian origin, they should not be here that's the system!!!

  • Ian Rowe - 2013-05-23 19:43

The English public have been railroaded by politically correct muppets - they daren't even say boo to another race without being arrested for so called racism, therefore these groups of terrorists are free to roam around planning anything they want if confronted they simply play the racist card.....things will come to a head like they never have before,we've had enough, english should stop fighting these stupid wars and ultimately these terrorists should be on the boat back where they came from

  • Gavin McCarthy - 2013-05-24 02:18

Funny how it's called terrorism in anywhere else in the word but in south Africa it was called freedom fighting
