UN: Syria on path to destruction

2012-11-07 07:54

New York - The UN political chief, Jeffrey Feltman, has sounded a warning that the escalating violence in Syria is showing signs of exploding outward into Lebanon, Turkey and Israel and will lead the country "to its destruction."

Feltman told reporters after briefing the Security Council on Tuesday that the solution had to be through a Syrian-led political process and "must bring real change and a clean break from the past."

Feltman said this was the focus of UN-Arab League envoy Lakhdar Brahimi who wanted the deeply divided council to approve guidelines for a Syrian-led transition agreed on in Geneva in June.

Britain's UN Ambassador Mark Lyall Grant said Brahimi was hoping "that everyone will be more pro-active," but he said the onus was especially on Russia and China which have vetoed three council resolutions on Syria.

Bloemfontein Shame, Sure there are a few Al-Quada terrorists in Syria, but never near the level of those from Lebanon, Iran and from Russia, the ones disguised as military 'advisers and experts' But like with most loonies of the left, your facination of Al-Quada is unique and plays off largely in your violent mind !!!

This is what would have happened in Syria had the world not disarmed madman Gaddafi.

It is more than obvious enabling that an unelected dictator, who is literally butchering Syrians and their families to try and hold onto unelected power, is wrong.

Feltman told reporters after briefing the Security Council on Tuesday that the solution had to be through a Syrian-led political process and "must bring real change and a clean break from the past." Now they say this after 15 months of only wanting Assad to go...they should be ashamed as Russia said this 12 months ago if not sooner..its amazing the gall of the West to say what they like when they like and reserve to themselves the right to be wrong and at the same time claim to be right..!!!!!!!

What is the purpose of the UN if it can stand by and helplessly watch a country destroy itself. You are the United Nations - do something dammit!
