UN envoy to hold Syria talks in Turkey

2012-10-13 11:17

Istanbul - The UN's envoy on Syria is meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on Saturday to discuss the 19-month Syrian civil war.

Lakhdar Brahimi travelled to Istanbul from Saudi Arabia amid growing tensions between Syria and its northern neighbour Turkey.

On Wednesday, Turkey intercepted a Syrian passenger plane en route from Moscow to Damascus and seized what it said was military equipment on board.

Syria denounced the move as air piracy and Russia has said the cargo was radar parts that complied with international law.

Davutoglu will also meet separately in Istanbul with Arab leaders and German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle for talks on the Syria crisis.

It is totally insane !! The deaths of tens of thousands of Syrians! The destruction of a whole country!! The International tension, especially between the 'super' powers. All because of ONE thug. As soon as this assad terrorist is gone, 95 % of all violence in Syria will stop !!!

The UN, meeting with Turkey, to plan the invasion. Tell it like it is!

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-10-13 13:42

Another uninformed delusional person making things up. The US is an association of all the countries on Earth, including Russia and China which are propping up the unelected dictator Bashar Assad and his brother. How then can the UN be planning the invasion of Syria? For your sake, educate yourself before arriving at such obviously wrong conclusions.

      AnthonyfromAfrica - 2012-10-13 14:43

Dankie, Even a grade 6 child, would realize, that Fred made a typing error, but at least you have shown you know the difference between the US and thr UN, Clever guy !!!

The Russians are the only ones to make any serious peace proposal. The last thing Britain, US and Nato want in Syria is peace. They are prepared to do anything to avoid that tragedy.

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-10-13 13:45

This from someone who sees Nelson Mandela as a phony, a lackey of the West, a modern-day Uncle Tom. Your exact words in the US/Mandela thread several weeks ago. It's a matter of public record that the election-slanting Russian regime is arming the unelected dictator Bashar Assad and his brother who are literally butchering Syrians and their families in their homes just because they want to vote in free and fair elections. In your upside-down world, that's peace. Weird. Truly weird.

      AnthonyfromAfrica - 2012-10-13 14:22

Fidel, NO, WRONG AGAIN !!!! It is not that the USA and the UK, don't want peace in Syria. But they know, the Russian undrstanding of peace, is the status quo. And THAT is unacceptable............to the people of Syria!!!! After FIFTY YEARS, the Syrians have had enough of this assdad TYRANNY. You don't believe so ; Than demand from your Russian bastard friends, to insists on free and fair elections in Syria. For FIFTY YEARS these assads have shown they are COWARDS, as they know damn well, they would not get more than 5 % of the vote!! This assad terrorist MUST GO !!

      duncan.gill1 - 2012-10-13 14:30

friedbrainfraser show me this public record that you seem to have knowledge of come on I challenge you give me all the links to the proof you have of Russia arming Syria and pleeeze don't refer to the helicopters that were way laid at sea illegally as they were being sent to Syria under a contract that was put in place long before any trouble broke out in Syria.Lets see what you can publish here or at least show everyone here how unfounded all your lies and utterances are, once and for all!

      duncan.gill1 - 2012-10-13 14:37

Right on Fidel some sense on this comment page at last!

      AnthonyfromAfrica - 2012-10-13 14:59

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-10-13 16:45

Dunkie, it's been widely reported. Just Google it.

      fred.fraser.12 - 2012-10-13 16:46

You really shouldn't shout your mouth off like that before informing yourself. You're showing yourself to be completely ignorant on the subject.

      magnus.j.vanvuuren - 2012-10-13 17:16
