US slams Syria's 'escalation' of violence

Washington - The United States on Tuesday accused Syria of having intensified attacks against its people before Arab observers arrived in the country to monitor a deal to end nine months of deadly violence.

"It was a horrible situation where the violence spiked over the course of several days. We obviously condemn this escalation of violence," State Department deputy spokesperson Mark Toner told reporters.

"The regime used the last several days as an opportunity to escalate their attacks on several ... neighbourhoods in Homs and other cities prior to the deployment of these monitors," he added.

"These actions are not consistent with the terms of the Arab League initiative that the Syrian regime agreed to on November 02 or the protocol on observers that the regime agreed to on December 19," Toner said.

The observer mission is part of an Arab plan endorsed by Syria on November 02 that calls for the withdrawal of security forces from towns and residential districts, a halt to violence against civilians and the release of detainees.

Since signing the deal, President Bashar al-Assad's regime has been accused of intensifying its crackdown, which has shown no signs of abating since it erupted in March and which the UN says has killed more than 5 000 people.

Toner expressed hope that the monitors would be able to do their work.

"We obviously look to these individuals to be intrepid in their search for the truth of what's happening on the ground," he said.

He said the United States "would ... demand that the Syrian authorities allow them full access to the Syrian people in order to carry out their mission".

The reality, Toner, is that the arrival of these monitors does not really suit the US nor the so called "peaceful" protestors. The western game to force a regime change in Syria might just no longer be possible. Also, I love the way that you use the word "demand"! What I "demand" is that the US turns inwards and solves some of the severe economic and social problems it has within its own society.

The Western Impearlist were the driveing force behind the monitors, as it was their idea, They prompted the Arab Leauge, ( which is mostly made up of evil despotic regimes that are in the pocket of Zionist America hegemony) to demand acess to Syria then report back to their masters in the Pentagon. The American Zionist warmongers thought Syria would refuse them entry , and the Zionist would then use this to ratchet up the pressure for Impearlist Zionist forces , under the guise of human rights etc to start a massive bombing and slaughtering of civillians, bomb hospitals , towns and villages , as they had just did in Libya. But it sort of backfired, as Syria allowed the so called "Monitors" acess. Several of monitors are not reading the pre arranged script , and have pointed out that all is not as reported by Zionist controlled western media, they pointed to the violence , bombing , and sheer acts of terror carried out against defenceless Syrian civillians by the same people the Zionist controlled western press refer to as "peacefull protestors". They also pointed the fact that Syria faces a well organised, funded , trained violent attempt by these so called "Free Syrian Army" to overthrow the Goverment by any means possiable. Already the Western Zionist controlled media is bad mouthing certain members of the Arab Leauge Mointors, because they have refused to keep to the pre arranged script. Dark days lie ahead , the Zionist warmongers gather.
