US surfer 'punched shark until it let go'

2012-11-01 15:32

Eureka — A California surfer who survived a shark attack says he punched the beast in the head until it finally released him.

Scott Stephens says the great white pulled him underwater on Tuesday at a popular surf spot and let him go only after receiving the blows to its head.

Doctors say Stephens suffered at least seven deep lacerations, but none of his vital organs was damaged. He was in fair condition on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old thanked the doctors who operated on him and strangers who came to his aid. He says he plans to surf again.

Stephens' news conference was reported by the Eureka Times-Standard newspaper.

Who is this guy ??? Baby Jake! I can only assume it was a small (great white) shark or not to interested in it's prey. Perhaps it was just not his time to go. Miracles happen!

Perhaps the battle took place out of water. As far as I know you can through a good punch when sub-water.
