Woman finds one carrot ring in garden

Stockholm - A Swedish woman who lost her wedding ring 16 years ago was flabbergasted when she found it again, around a carrot growing in her garden, media reported Saturday.

Lena Paahlsson had taken off the white gold ring before a Christmas baking session with her daughters in 1995, but it had disappeared from the kitchen counter where she placed it.

After looking everywhere, and even pulling up floorboards in the search, Paahlsson and her family, who live on a farm in northern Sweden, had given up on seeing the ring again, she told the Dagens Nyheter daily.

That was until October this year, when she was picking the last carrots in her garden and suddenly found one with her ring glimmering around it.

The family thinks the ring must have fallen into the sink back in 1995 and been mixed with potato peels that were composted or fed to the sheep, since all the soil in the garden comes from composted vegetables and sheep dung.

The ring no longer fits Paahlsson, but she told Dagens Nyheter she plans to have it enlarged.

"I had given up hope. Now that I have found the ring again... I want to be able to use it," she said.

There we go! I make my New Years Resolution to having a veggy garden! Sipho! Sipho! Next weekend, in the corner of the back yard, you must start a veggy garden, see? So after you do the lawn and wash the cars, start planting a veggy garden. I will give you the seeds Saturday morning. Don't know how to plant? Grew up in the township? What about your cousin Vusi? Remember he helped us to clear the bush in the backyard? He is a country boy. Send him a message to come past, teach you, get the veggie garden going. Yes, let's have beef stew and veggies by Easter? OK! Lovie, if there are not enough veggies, get the frozen ones. Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

What is the gist of this senseless comment.

You have the mentality of manure. Lay down in your veg garden and see if you can dissolve.

Well it brought a smile to my face :)

Obviously there is a God. One who loves us so much that small surprises like that is the norm for Him.

      goyougoodthing - 2012-01-01 13:27

Huh? Small surprises to go with genocide rape and murder.

      Kim - 2012-01-01 19:40

God was so busy helping this woman find her ring that he forgot to protect those two 7 year old little girls who were being raped. And he forgot about protecting that little boy who was murdered by his mother and he forgot about that family that was being shot by their father and he forgot about saving the fisherman that was swept away by a wave and drowned and what about all the other violence that he forgot to try and stop and what about all the poor, hungry children that he blessed the poor parents with and forgot to forgot to provide rain to grow food to feed and the list can just go on and on - genocide, rape, murder, poverty, disease ...... !!!!

I am a Reborn Atheist, and what faith I had in God has been shattered as he has always appeared to be an incredibly SELECTIVE god. 13 men cling to an overturned fishing boat, one makes it to shore alive, says it was because he prayed for God to save him. Wonder what the other 12 who perished were doing whilst drowning????? Hmmm.....

I am hoping the ring I got from my Mom, that got lost will be found someday ... I do have hope for that.

      trix.duvenage - 2012-01-02 11:25

Kim: Maybe God was so busy looking after YOUR wellbeing that He did not have time for all those other things you accuse Him of. As For Bianca: Its a pity you call yourself a reborn Atheist as that is a term I am not very familier with. Were you a reborn Christian you would have understood that God sometimes has to allow things to happen to people to serve as a eye opener for many others. Be glad that you are still alive and in a position to offer your own body as a living sacrifice. Every individual can make a difference for betterment of the society. God is Spirit. He has no other hands than YOUR hands and no other feet than YOUR feet. Both of you: Make 2012 the year in which you offer yourself to HELP God instead of critising.
