Yale campus shooter alert

Cape Town - Yale university has put an emergency warning on its website and twitter. 

Students and staff have been told to shelter in place as an unidentified person with a gun has been seen on their old campus.

SkyNews reported that SWAT teams had been seen at the university, according to college newspaper Yale Daily News.

The notice on the university's website says: "New Haven police have received an anonymous call from a phone booth in the 300 block of Columbus Avenue [between Howard Avenue and Hallock Street] reporting a person on the Yale Campus with a gun.  

"Yale and New Haven police are in the area.  If you have information, please call 911 immediately.  The Yale police department advises those on campus to remain in their current location until there is additional information."

New Haven police said there have not been any confirmed sightings of the man, but they are continuing to investigate.
