A first-time mom suddenly died while taking care of her new-born daughter – despite having no health issues.

A devastated Adam Collins (25) from Nottingham, England, desperately tried saving his wife, Loren (22), after finding her unresponsive at their home on March 1.

But Loren, who was looking after their new-born daughter, Lilly-Mae, couldn't be saved by paramedics despite their best efforts.

The new mom's toxicology report came back clear – indicating that no drugs were in her system at the time of death – but the family's still awaiting the official cause of her natural death.

"Loren was an amazing person and I knew from the moment I met her that we'd get married and spend our lives together," Adam says.

"I'm living my worst nightmare and although doctors know she died from natural causes, we won't know why it happened for at least another six months.

"Loren was selfless, caring and just an all-round lovely person.

"She was over the moon when she fell pregnant with Lilly-Mae as she'd been told she'd never be able to have kids because she didn't ovulate properly.

"We told everyone we're having a baby at our wedding on April 20 last year.

"Losing Loren has been a huge shock for everyone. She was a picture of health and we still have no idea why," the widower says.

The telesales executive said he last spoke to Loren on March 1 while he was on a break at work.

The couple decided to have pizza for dinner so Adam stopped at a local shop after he finished his shift.

When walking through the door of their home, he discovered his wife lying face-down on the floor.

"I left work 10 minutes late and I keep replaying that in my mind. I've no idea if I could've have saved her if I was any earlier but it's impossible not to think like that.

"I tried to call her twice again on my way home after getting the pizzas but she didn't answer.

"I assumed she was changing Lilly-Mae and I'd no reason to panic until I walked through the door."

Adam says when he found Loren, her fingertips had turned blue.

"I rang 999 while performing CPR. I did my best to stay calm but it was horrific," he says.

Loren was later declared dead at her family home.

"Her funeral was last Wednesday [March 20] and it was the most perfect day for her. She had a white carriage and her funeral was attended by everyone that wanted to say their goodbyes."

Adam is now raising Lilly-Mae with the help of both his and Loren's family.

"Lilly-Mae's getting me through the worst time of my life," Adam says.

"She'll never get to know her mum fully but I'll make sure Loren's memory lives on forever."
