A 12-year-old girl will be buried with her beloved dog after both were killed by a car on a highway.

Jennarae Nicole Goodbar, from Kentucky in the US, and her dog Cash died on Saturday 27 October after they were hit by a car that was unable to stop in time, Daily Mail reports.

Family members who witnessed the horrific incident told KTLA 5 the youngster was training her pooch when he suddenly took off and ran towards a busy road in Rockbridge County.

The driver of the car is reportedly a close family friend.

“On day of service [Cash] will be placed in there with [Jennarae] and be buried together,” said Donna Jean Stuples, Jennarae’s mom.

“She bought her with her own cash. It was her baby.”

Local police are investigating the incident, Fox 13 reports.

Jennarae’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for the unexpected funeral costs.

“She’ll always be remembered as a sweet, energetic, dog-loving, hunting-loving little girl – a little girl who touched the lives of many,” the page reads.

“Your donation will help to cover the cost of unexpected expenses.

“No amount is too small. Thank you for your donation and please lift up this family in your prayers.”

Jennarae and Cash’s funeral will be held on Saturday 3 November.
