This desperate man went to extreme measures to stop his mother-in-law from visiting!

An unnamed man took to Reddit to reveal he recently bought a tarantula to keep his "insufferable" mother-in-law at bay, Metro reports.

"Privacy means nothing to them, and my wife refuses to set boundaries," the man wrote about his wife's parents.

"They'll come around every day unannounced to visit my wife or play with our kids. I never get a break from my mother-in-law’' constant nagging."

"A few months ago [my mother-in-law] went crazy after a spider was simply in the corner. Panic attack and all.

"So I got the idea to get a tarantula as a way to prevent her coming so often. It's in a big enclosure in the living room."

The Reddit user had asked his wife if he could get the spider, but kept the motive a secret, Ladbible reports.

"[It] worked like a charm. The dad still comes but the mother can't stand to be in the same house as it.

"She's continued to ignore my concerns about boundaries for years. I don't think I had a choice. Plus the tarantula makes a cool pet," he said.

The man then went on to ask users if he was being unreasonable and whether he should come clean to his wife, Newshub reports.

"I'm sure she's aware of her mother's arachnophobia and thought she could play dumb and have it be a win-win," one user responded.

"It makes me think she really does want space from her mom, but doesn’t want the fallout of trying to get it," said another.
