Jewellery worth €200 000 stolen from Paris fair

Paris - French police say thieves made off with jewellery worth €200 000 Paris' Grand Palais during an art fair.

A police spokesperson said the two thieves targeted a salesperson as the four-day Art Paris event was being dismantled.

He said one man distracted the salesperson as she was waiting for a goods carrier by pretending she had dropped money. His accomplice snatched her bag containing the jewellery from the floor before running away.

The city's annual contemporary art fair featured 138 galleries showcasing art, sculpture and jewellery.
