A Brazilian male model has tragically died after collapsing on a catwalk during Sao Paulo Fashion Week.

Model Tales Soares was walking in a show for fashion brand Ocksa when tragedy struck, Metro reports.

Medical personnel reportedly attended to the 26-year-old man on the catwalk and later rushed him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His agent, Rogério Campaneli, told local news agencies that “everything happened so fast”.

“Doctors suspect that Tales might have had a congenital problem,” said Rogério.

“From videos, they believe he died on the catwalk. ‘It was all so fast: he kissed a friend behind the scenes who was following him, walked out confidently as usual, then suddenly stumbled, lost his footing and fell’.”

At first, attendees thought he’d tripped over his shoelace and some believed it was “all part of the act”, News.com.au reports

But onlookers knew something was seriously wrong when Soares started foaming at the mouth.

The model’s agency, Base MGT, paid a sincere tribute to him on its Instagram page.

“Tales never presented or complained about health problems,” the statement read.

“He had a healthy diet (he was a vegetarian), did not use illegal substances and was in full condition to participate in the parade. And we ask for respect at this moment of deep sadness.”

Organisers of the Sao Paulo Fashion Week also paid their respects to Soares, The Guardian reports.

“May God welcome you with open arms! Life is definitely a catwalk. We’re just passing through!” they said, calling the news “very sad”.
