A British man has been convicted of stabbing his mother 17 times during a quarrel over milk in his tea.

Thomas Westwood (46), from Coventry in England, was found guilty of culpable homicide in the Coventry District Court on Tuesday. He’d stabbed his mother, Susan (68), on 1 December 2017.

Westwood, who’s unemployed, claimed in court that the strife began when he felt his mother hadn’t made his tea “milky enough”.

He was arrested at her home where Susan had been found with multiple stabs wounds.

He claimed his mother was the one who started the fight and that she regularly bullied him. But the family strongly disagree.

“We as a family have been left devastated and heartbroken at the loss of Susan,” they said in a statement. “She was a loving mom, nan, sister, auntie and friend who’ll be missed so much,” the Mirror reports.

“To lose someone in your life is bad enough, but for Susan to be killed by someone she loved and supported endlessly is the cruellest blow. Someone she trusted and loved.

“This is beyond our comprehension.”

Westwood will be sentenced on 3 August, the BBC reports.
