Paris – The mother of one of the Paris suicide bombers has reportedly claimed that her son "did not mean to kill anyone", adding that he may have blown himself up because of "stress".

"This was not his plan, that's for sure,” the Daily Mail quoted the mother of Ibrahim Abdeslam, 31, as saying.

This comes as French investigators believe there were three teams involved in Friday's attacks on Paris and are probing possible links to the conflict in Syria in a joint inquiry with Belgium.

Seven of the gunmen and suicide bombers who took part in the carnage, which killed 129 and was claimed by Islamic State jihadists, died in the bloodshed.

AFP reported on Monday that Abdeslam was one of three Belgium-based brothers who were suspected of involvement in the attacks.

The second brother was in custody while the third, 26-year-old Salah Abdeslam, was thought to be on the run, AFP reported.

Abdeslam launched a solo attack outside the cafe Comptoir Voltaire, close to the scene of the Bataclan concert hall massacre on Friday night.
