Imagine a cabbage the size of a human being...

Now you don’t have to – a retired Australian couple managed to grow this miracle in their garden.

Rosemary Norwood and her husband, Sean Cadman, who live in Jackeys Marsh, Tasmania, spent the past nine months lovingly nurturing the cabbage at the bottom of their garden. And their hard work has certainly paid off.

The couple has been growing vegetables in their garden for years, but this is the first time they’ve grown anything this massive.

“It’s unbelievable how big it got. I didn’t realise just the size of it until we picked it,” Rosemary (70) told

“We had a few cabbages that we’d started growing altogether, but the others didn’t do as well as this one. So we decided to just let it keep going.”

She adds they could’ve let it grow even larger but they’d noticed insects had started eating it.

“It would’ve been too difficult to get them [the insects] out, and we would’ve ruined it. So, it was just time [to pick the cabbage],” Rosemary explains.

While it was growing, they’d covered the cabbage in netting to keep butterflies and snails from getting to it.

Rosemary reckons the organic fertiliser they used had helped the cabbage grow to its enormous size.

They planted the cabbage in April 2018 and decided in January to pick it.

Since then the couple have been eating cabbage for three weeks – and they says it’s delicious.
