A video has emerged on social media of a pit bull attacking a woman on the New York subway on Friday.

The footage that has since gone viral shows the dog sinking its teeth into a woman’s shoe, refusing to let go despite people trying to pull it away, according to New York Post.

Oh my G*d,” one passenger is heard saying as they try to wrestle with the pooch.

“Call the police,” another one begs.

You’re not telling the dog to release, another man shouts at the owner. Soon after the woman’s sneaker comes off.

The owner is then seen throwing the shoe at the passengers before moving towards the train doors with his dog.

Apparently, it started when the woman asked the owner to get his dog off the seat and he refused, ABC 7 reported.

Eyewitnesses believe this tussle was a result of a human error because the victim in her twenties attacked the dog first by pushing it off the seat.

“He [the owner] was like don’t touch my dog and he started hitting. They started fighting and everybody tried to break it up, the dog latched onto her,” Tahsyi Kyng told ABC 7.

The case has since been reported to the police and they’re looking for the owner.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) said non-service animals must be inside containers when riding mass transit and called it a clear violation of their rules.

“What’s happening in this video is disturbing. We flagged this video for NYPD, which is responsible for enforcing transit rules,” MTA’s spokesperson Shams Tarek told Mirror UK.
