Pool accident leaves one of 2-year-old twins dead, the other on life support

A two-year-old boy from Cedar Creek in Texas, in the US, has drowned while his twin brother is fighting for his life after the toddlers got into the pool at their great-grandmother’s house.

Demi Schroeder and her twin boys, Noah and Levi, had been visiting Demi's grandmother in Bastrop County when the tragedy unfolded, Daily Mail reports.

Demi realised her boys were missing when she woke up one Saturday morning to find that they weren't in the room. Demi and her grandmother both searched all over the house but couldn't find them.

"All of a sudden, I hear my Nanny [grandmother] say they're in the pool back here and I run from the front yard to the back yard and my grandma is pulling my kids out of the pool," Demi told CBS Austin.

She called 911 and within minutes, Bastrop County sheriff's deputies were on the scene performing CPR.

Demi told ABC 13 she thinks the twins were in the water for a matter of minutes and that Noah probably went in first.

According to the grieving mom, paramedics managed to revive Levi first, managing to get a pulse before the boys were rushed to the local hospital.

The New York Post reports that Noah died two days later.

"Right now, we're just fighting for Levi and that's all we're worried about," Demi says.

She's donated Noah's organs which has reportedly already helped five people.

Demi says the most important thing the family requires at the moment is love and support.

A GoFundMe page was set up to cover both funeral and medical expenses for the family, who don't have medical insurance. More than the goal of $10 000 (about R145 000) has already been raised.
