Rescuers struggled to carry a stretcher through dense forest after recovering the body of a tourist who’d plunged 60 metres to his death while taking photos.

The unnamed man, reportedly in his 40s, had climbed over a walkway railing to get a better shot of the mountainous Yuzeng Scenic Area.

Rescuers in the city of Yueqing in China’s Zhejiang province were notified of the accident early on Sunday, 28 October.

A 22-man search party was dispatched into the mountains to find the victim who’d slipped down a steep slope.

He was found lying more than 60 m below the walkway he’d climbed over and fallen from.

It took the rescuers nearly four hours to carry the stretcher through the densely wooded mountainside.

Footage shows just part of the challenging operation, which ended with the stretcher arriving at the base of the mountain at 7:30pm the same evening.

The body was transferred to a local hospital for further police investigation.

According to reports, the man’s relatives had urged him not to leave the path just moments before his tragic fall.
