St Petersburg - Russia's National Anti-Terrorism Committee has announced that security will be tightened at all critical transport facilities following the St Petersburg blast in which initial reports say 10 people died and 50 onjured in the subway explosion.

Russian news agencies Tass and Interfax reported that 10 died on the train in the St Petersburg subway.

Video footage posted on social media website shows a train with mangled doors standing at the platform. Frantic commuters shouted for others to call an ambulance.

Russian Senator Viktor Ozerov told Interfax that the explosion looked like a terrorist attack.
