A policeman who took part in a search for his ex-wife has been arrested for killing her in a jealous rage after seeing her profile on an online dating site.

Vyacheslav Galimzhanova (41) allegedly confessed to his superiors that he’d killed his former wife, Alina Galimzhanova (35), near the city of Chelyabinsk Oblast in south-central Russia.

The couple, who had been divorced for a year, had arranged to meet at Vyacheslav’s garage on 18 June so Alina could collect some of her things that had been in storage there.

But Alina never made it home again after meeting with her ex. Her relatives reported her missing to the local police.

Vyacheslav told his police colleagues he’d dropped her off at a bus stop and had no idea what had happened.

He even joined in searches of the local countryside to try to find Alina.

But after a month of searching and with cops still stumped, Vyacheslav allegedly turned himself in and admitted he’d killed her and buried her body in a nearby forest.

He’d reportedly become jealous after discovering that she’d created a profile on an online dating site. He’d lost his temper over fears that she would start bringing men back to her flat where she lived with their 13-year-old daughter.

Vyacheslav has been suspended from his job and remanded in custody while prosecutors prepare to charge him with murder.
