Rather than spending his hard-earned money on himself, this high school student decided to buy his friend an electric wheelchair.

Tanner Wilson, from the small town of Norman, Arkansas in the US, surprised his friend Brandon Qualls with an electric wheelchair, to help him better navigate his way through their high school’s passages, ABC News reports. The two are both students at Caddo Hills High School.

"He’s just been a really good friend and I wanted to do him a favour,” Tanner says. “I just felt like I needed to do it, and I wanted to do it."

“It was amazing for me because I didn’t know what he’d done for me,” Brandon added.

It took Tanner about two years to save money from his part-time job.

“I feel like life’s a little bit too short to be judging everybody, and you should think more of others than just yourself,” he adds.

Tanner’s mom, Colleen Carmack, told CNN that this isn’t the first good deed her son has done.

"That’s him. He’s always been about everybody else and not himself,” Colleen says.

“We let him know that you get nowhere being mean.”

One of Brandon’s teachers, Ginger Wray, helped decorate the new wheelchair with orange flames on the fenders, KTHV reports.

Tanner hopes his act of kindness inspires others to care about more than just themselves.
