Former US president Bill Clinton has been
accused of sexually assaulting four women.
The “explosive new charges” were revealed
by sources within the Democratic Party and an official who served in both the
Clinton and Obama administrations, Daily
Mail reports.
According to Edward Klein, former editor in
chief of the New York Times Magazine and author of four books on the Clintons,
the latest incidents to emerge took place after the 71-year-old left the Oval
Office in 2001.
It was during a period in the early 2000s,
when Clinton was hired by “playboy billionaire” Ron Burkle, Klein writes, to
work at the investor’s Yucaipa companies.
“Clinton helped Burkle generate business
and flew around the world with a flock of beautiful young women on Burkle's
private jet, which was nicknamed 'Air F**k One’,” the author claims.
The former US leader’s legal team has reportedly
already been contacted by the women’s attorneys about plans to file four
separate lawsuits against him.
According to reports, they’re asking for
money to keep quiet and if the legal negotiations fail, they’ll go public.
Clinton, whose wife Hillary ran against
Donald Trump for the presidency last year, is no stranger to controversy.
Clinton had an affair with the White House
intern's Monica Lewinsky during his first term which is now described as the
“most famous Clinton sex scandal of all”.
It eventually led to his impeachment by the
House.
“He was acquitted by the Senate. Clinton
has admitted the relationship, telling the nation in a televised address that,
‘Indeed I did have a relationship with Ms Lewinsky that was not
appropriate’," CNN
reports.
And over the years he has been faced with
several similar accusations, including that of Juanita Broaddrick, the Arkansas
nursing home administrator who alleged Clinton had raped her in 1978 when she
visited Little Rock for a nursing home seminar, The
Guardian reports. The White House denied the allegations in 1999.
Another woman, Paula Jones, claimed in 1991
that Clinton propositioned her for sex and exposed himself when she was
escorted to his room at a Little Rock hotel.
According to CNN,
she filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Clinton in 1994.
“Clinton agreed to a settlement in 1998 and
paid Jones and her attorneys $850 000. And it was during that case that he
initially denied having a sexual relationship with Monica Lewinsky”.
The Democratic activist and White House
volunteer Kathleen Willey said that in 1993, Clinton grabbed and kissed her in
the Oval Office's private study.
During Clinton's 1992 presidential
campaign, Gennifer Flowers said she'd had a 12-year sexual relationship with
Clinton.
Miss America 1982 Elizabeth Ward Gracen
made a U-turn on her six-year-old denial in 1998 and said she'd had a one-night
stand with Clinton in 1982.
“Clinton has denied the accusations,” CNN
added.
