This tiny goldfish got braces made out of a credit card

Allentown – A photograph of a tiny goldfish sporting what appears to be a set of “fish braces” is making the rounds on social media.

The fish, Mr Hot Wing, was suffering from breathing and eating issues and was taken to Dr Brian Palmeiro, a veterinarian at Lehigh Valley Veterinary Dermatology in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

The veterinary wrote a Facebook post saying that the goldfish was born without a lower jaw bone and his mouth could not stay open which made it difficult to eat and breathe.

After some research, the doctor decided to craft the fish a custom brace made from a credit card to creatively solve Mr Hot Wing’s problem.

“Palmeiro did surgery to open his mouth and created this brace to help his mouth stay open,” wrote Palmeiro’s office.

The entire surgery cost about $150, reported ABC7.

Details on how the surgery was performed are currently unknown.

Palmeiro has also previously helped other fish using credit cards which he created into a sling.

Earlier this month, a 6-month-old golden retriever in Michigan was also fitted with orthopaedic braces. The adorable pup had teething issues and was unable to close his mouth. His owners subsequently got him braces to help reduce the pain and aid his teeth.
