Beirut - The Lebanese army says a man wanted by authorities blew himself up during an army raid on his apartment, killing himself and two relatives in northern Lebanon.

Seven soldiers, including two officers, were wounded on Saturday as the man identified as Mohammad Hamza lobbed grenades at the raiding unit before detonating his suicide belt.

An army statement says Hamza was wanted on several charges, including firing on a Lebanese army patrol in 2014.

The incident happened in the northern Lebanese town of Deiremar.
