An American woman, whose car was stolen at a petrol station, became an amateur investigator when she tracked down the thieves and filmed herself stealing her vehicle right back.

Danielle Reno, from Missouri, was able to hunt down the thieves by tracking the purchases made from her debit card as well as GPS from her cellphone – both of which were inside her stolen Toyota 4Runner, Daily Mail reports.

After filing a police report, Danielle took matters into her own hands and spent 48 hours tailing the carjackers, Newsweek reports.

"We stalked this lady literally for 48 hours," she said.

"She had no idea what we were doing."

An attendant at a petrol station told Danielle that the alleged thief was headed to Applebee’s – a local restaurant – so she decided to follow her.

When the suspect went inside the restaurant, Danielle went to her car and stole it back.

She also documented her pursuit with videos uploaded to her Facebook account.

"Oh my God, before I call the cops I wanted to show you all what we just found, by doing our own stalking. [I’m] At Applebees, and my heart’s racing," Danielle said in one of the videos she posted.

"I got this b***h’s beer in my car and she's short, I had to scoot the seat back. I got her cigarettes and whatever kind of drug pipe that is and I'm about to pull over in a mile down the street and call the cops. But I think I got everything, and she is about to get her ass arrested!"

When police arrived on the scene, the suspected thief was arrested along with two others. They were still in possession of Danielle’s belongings and credit cards.

She caught their arrest on video.

Unfortunately for Danielle, the thieves trashed her car to the point where she said she doesn’t want to drive it again.

“Look at my back seat,” she told KCTV. “[There’s] Beer in my back seat. There's stuff on the car seat. There's stuff on the seat. It's just gross.”
