A Welsh woman tragically drowned in a swimming pool in Bali after a “perfect night” with her boyfriend.

Couple Natalie Morris (29) and Andrew Samuel (27) from Cardiff, Wales had travelled to the island of Lembongan, off the coast of Bali, in September, for their dream vacation, Metro News reports.

A recent inquest heard the pair had spent their first evening watching movies and enjoying a few drinks before Andrew discovered Natalie’s lifeless body face down in the pool.

The 27-year-old also described to the court how they’d spent the day before Natalie died, BBC reports.

"It was one of the most perfect evenings imaginable", Andrew said.

"It was the most picturesque of islands with white sand beaches, and we watched the sunset at about 6:00pm before heading back to the resort for dinner and then a few drinks back at the villa.

"We drank gin and tonics by the pool for a few hours after. We didn't drink excessively, but we were both tipsy.

"I went to bed about midnight and Nat stayed out to finish her drink and have a cigarette. It was normal for me to go to bed first, although Natalie wasn't a great swimmer.

"The pool was only 5ft deep. So she would have been fine swimming in it."

After discovering her body, the young man, reportedly dived in to save her and performed CPR.

The coroner had asked him what he had thought had happened to Natalie, The Sun reports.

"I think Nat had been having a cigarette and got out of her chair and knowing Nat most probably started dancing to the music.

"But she must have slipped and knocked her head and fallen into the pool,” he said.

The coroner revealed the young woman died by drowning.

"Natalie Morris died from the effects of drowning in circumstances which are unclear. The evidence does not reveal how she entered the water.”

Natalie’s sister, Janine Lloyd (41), described her as a “vibrant person.”

“Natalie and her partner were on holiday in Bali. They’d been planning it for ages,” she said.

“He was going to ask her to marry him. She was just a lovely, vibrant person and the life and soul of a party.

“She had so many friends. Every single person who’s heard about this is devastated. I just can’t believe this has happened to someone so full of life.”
