A mother has shared incredible footage of a thick layer of clouds sweeping over the grey skies above her suburban house.
Johanna Hood, from Hinesville in Georgia, was about to go for a stroll with her children and dogs when they were stopped in their tracks by the eerie weather.
"My children and I had just walked outside to walk our dog and that’s what we saw," she told Mirror Online. "I immediately began recording and taking pictures.”
The cumulonimbus clouds, which resembled strikes of lighting and looked like an oncoming tsunami, was over in a flash, Johanna told Mirror Online, and its effects weren’t as devastating as anticipated.
"It happened so fast and was over in just a few minutes there was a thunderstorm afterwards but it was very mild,” the artist told Mirror Online. "Just a little rain, lightning and thunder. Nothing crazy like you’d think."
According to Sott.net, the spectacular occurrence appears to be a type of arcus cloud, which is a low, horizontal cloud formation that is an accessory to a heavy thunderstorm.
Johanna shared the dramatic footage on her Facebook page and garnered more than 600 shares.
Many thought the footage is fake but Johanna maintains it’s legit. "I can’t believe so many people think it’s fake! "It’s 100% real."
