He has produced multiple hit singles and was recently voted the world’s number one DJ in DJ Mag’s annual Top 100 DJs poll. Here’s all you need to know about the Dutch electro-house master Hardwell.

The 25-year-old DJ’s real name is Robbert van de Corput.

His fellow Dutchman Tiësto inspired him to start Djing. ‘‘I was about 12 when I started producing my own sounds,’’ he says.

His father gave him the stage name Hardwell, which he has used since he was 12. Hardwell is the family’s last name in Latin.

Hardwell en Tiësto’s track Zero 76, which topped the US iTunes chart, is dedicated to the area code of the city where they were born – Breda in the Netherlands.

The two DJ’s doesn’t only make music together, they are also good friends and call each other every day. ‘‘I’m an only child, so it’s like I finally found my big brother,’’ he says.

He landed his first record deal when he was 14, but his parents had to tag along to gigs because he was to young to enter clubs.

He’s ajudo and martial arts master! As a teen he spent his free time perfecting his judo and martial arts skills.

He might be an EDM master but he loves hip hop music and wants to work with rappers like Eminem, Drake and Kanye West.

He formed his own record label, Revealed Recordings, in 2010 and launched his own radio show and podcast, Hardwell On Air, a year later. It’s broadcast in more than 35 countries.

If the world were ending and he had an iPod with every song ever made on it, he would listen to The Final Countdown by Europe. “Or maybe some Whitney Houston.’’
