5 things to watch this weekend

There’s nothing like a classic and Steven Spielberg worked his magic bringing Tintin to the screen. The kids will love it – as will any older Tintin fan! There’s plenty of entertainment for the kids now they’re on holiday, as well as an action flick for the grown-ups and a fix for Twilight fans.

Friday 6 December

The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn

M-Net 9.30 am

Thanks to the genius of Steven Spielberg, this classic comic comes to life on the screen. Jamie Bell and Andy Serkis are the wonderful voices behind Tintin and Captain Haddock as they go in search of lost treasure. Just the thing for kids on holiday.

The Marine

e.tv 8.30 pm

Here’s proof that WWE is fake – because it shows how good an actor John Cena is! The WWE superstar plays the lead in this flick – a tough-as-nails Marine who’s just finished his military tours but comes home to find his wife has been kidnapped. Some action to kick off the weekend.

Saturday 7 December

SABC3 7 pm

Hold onto your flying carpets – one of the most entertaining animation movies from the ’90s is flying into a lounge near you. Best of all is the crazy Robin Williams as the genie in the lamp. Great entertainment for kids and some good laughs for grown-ups too.

Night At The Museum

e.tv 8 pm

See Ben Stiller’s at his best in this cute comedy about a museum security guard who discovers his exhibitions come alive at night. The T-Rex dinosaur skeleton that behaves like a puppy and just wants to play fetch is hilarious.

Sunday 8 December

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2

M-Net 8.05 pm

If you’re a Twilight fan, the couch is the place to be on Sunday night (admit it, you’ll watch again even if you’ve seen it 10 times!). Grab some snacks, sit back and watch Bella get to grips with life as a vampire – and of course you have to see how the love triangle between her, the sparkly vampire and the hunky werewolf finally pans out.
