Need some light relief? Then don’t miss the fantastic old-school comedies on offer this weekend. We’re a week into the African Nations Championship and things are hotting up! Our boys take on Nigeria this Sunday so footie fans, book your spot on the couch.

Friday 17 January The Gods Must Be Crazy 2 SABC3 8.30 pm If you’re looking for a great way to unwind and kick off the weekend, tune in for an old-school laugh or two with Khoisan Xixo, who has to track down his kids after they climb into a poacher’s truck in the middle of the desert. Saturday 18 January

The Princess Diaries

SABC3 7.30 pm

One minute she’s an awkward, geeky teen, the next she’s a princess of a small European country no one’s heard of. And as if that’s not enough, her granny’s none other than Mary Poppins! Brilliant! Zoom: Academy for Superheroes e.tv 8 pm Enough of princesses and tiaras – here’s something for the boys. Tim “The Toolman” Taylor plays a grumpy ex-superhero who’s hired to teach young superheroes to be, well, superheroes. And time’s not on his side – a new enemy’s heading their way . . . Sunday 19 January

CHAN Soccer

SABC1 7 pm

Bafana Bafana are playing Nigeria so find that vuvuzela and drive your neighbours nuts as you cheer the boys on. Laduma!

See No Evil, Hear No Evil

e.tv 10.35 pm

One’s blind, the other’s deaf – and together Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor are hilarious as a couple of bumbling fools who witness a murder and are barely able to solve the crime for the cops. Old-school comedy at its best.
